Fridays Off the 405 is a monthly event featuring free live music and a cash bar from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Enjoy music and evening views of the city, tour the galleries, and revel in the end of the workweek in a casual and spontaneous atmosphere.
The galleries will be open until 9:00 p.m. as well so you can enjoy the stunning paintings in Rubens and Brueghel: A Working Friendship and the explosive visual poetry in A Tumultuous Assembly: Visual Poems of the Italian Futurists.
This month's guests are Matthew Dear and Ryan Elliott.
Rolling Stone called Matthew Dear's CD 'Leave Luck to Heaven' "as invigorating a dance-floor record as has been heard all year." Matthew Dear blends microhouse, minimal techno, deadpan vocals, and good old-fashioned songwriting ability into addictive and melodic machine music.
Another Detroit up-and-comer, DJ Ryan Elliott programs well-crafted sets ranging from ice-cold minimal techno to summery house beats. Calling himself a "player of fine records," Elliott is a walking dictionary of artists, labels, and releases.
