ARTISTS
YL Hooi is the project of Valya Ying-Li Hooi. Her sound inhabits a subtle and mysterious realm of oblique, dubbed-out song, sparse electronic percussion, and distant textures. Active in the Melbourne underground scene since 2017, Hooi is a member of Kallista Kult (with Sam Karmel and Tarquin Manek) and has recorded and performed with artists including Jonnine Standish (HTRK) and in the post-punk band EXEK. Expect to be cloaked in a “sublime, grown-up bedroom chamber darkness”, as Hooi tempts listeners into a drowsy psychedelic daydream.
Her album Untitled, (first released on cassette by Altered States Tapes in 2019 and reissued on LP by Efficient Space in 2021) was described as a ''a mesmerising piece of opiated dub-folkism” by Inverted Audio, and “a standout debut, an immaculately frayed conception of dubwise dream-pop” by Boomkat.

Silzedrek is the latest alias by the pivotal antipodean producer Tarquin Manek. With a catalogue of solo records out on the legendary label Blackest ever Black, collaborations with Carla del Forno and Samuel Karmel of CS+Kreme in F Ingers - as well as producer for YL Hooi who he collaborates with to create the shadowy Melbourne outfit Kallista Kult. Organ Tapes is a project by the London-via-Shanghai producer Tim Zha, described as music for the people and spaces in-between. Organ Tapes unwraps introspective atmospheric compositions - to synthesise the electronic music for which he is known, with the languid, reverbed-out guitar music he was putting out a decade ago.
An experiment in bedroom-pop, seeping out of Zha’s long-term love of dancehall, afrobeat and Soundcloud rap, Organ Tapes shines a light on his distinct compositional mindset and graces listeners with a soft tapestry of post-club, dancehall, alt-country, indie folk, and autotuned vocals.
His latest album 唱着那无人问津的歌谣（Chang Zhe Na Wu Ren Wen Jin De Ge Yao) released on DJ Pythons Worldwide Unlimited label has been widely acclaimed by the likes of Pitchfork, The Quietus and Boomkat.

Sferic is the Manchester based label releasing transportive ambient music, and putting out essential records from the likes of Space Afrika, Jake Muir, TIBSLC and Perila. The label head, Will Boyd will be providing the soundtrack throughout the night.

N/OM provides listeners with out of the ordinary experiences in new music. Showcasing talent from Manchester and further afield, N/OM creates live events aimed at challenging audiences to the possibilities of contemporary sound.
With a series of events taking place across some of Manchester’s most interesting music venues, DIY and unconventional spaces, the promoter is working to raise support and funds for a permanent creative space - A community hub where listeners can discover contemporary music, and where artists can develop their work.
