- The Double Fisted Underground returns to Los Angeles for a unique dance affair. This evening, We explore the sound of long time SF legend, and staple Nikola Baytala - While drifting into endless alleys among night life, eventually one could find Nikola's curious moods at End Up, a prestigious residency for any working DJ in S.F., - Beyond the vivid swirls of magenta, cyan and what can only be described as a similar effect to a DMT haze, we can almost transport back to the moments in time when a Sunset Boat Party docked, in those days, after the memorable affair, one could find themselves at the Bionic event, just after, with residents IZ / Solar / Nikola and more... ...it was a pleasurable little jam at The Top, for those of you who missed it. As we embrace our history, we embrace this evening, and invite you to understand what it was, the experience which pushed a whole generation, created the confidence sonically to make the leap from dance, to dj, productions, and beyond as prior musicians. We understood all at once seemingly, that we could simply be ourselves and explore such a notion. Nikola, A true master of the craft.... We also invite to the helm - Shane One, A Bay Area favorite and a regular selector at the notorious Sunset Sound System events. (see the pattern here?) One of dance music’s most fun and eclectic artists, Shane’s low- slung style of house and disco breathes new life into dance floors around the world. Whether playing keyboards with PillowTalk or DJing solo at events like Houghton Festival, Shane’s diverse musical roots shine through in his song selection and technique. Growing up in New York City as a youth in the Metropolitan Opera, Shane cut his teeth mixing hip-hop and R&B while studying classical piano & music theory at Mannes School of Music. Known for his electric closing-set each year at The Sunset Campout and annual Disco Knights slot at Burning Man, Shane’s skill lies in weaving together a wide range of genres and rhythms satisfying audiences from New York’s Panther Room to London’s Saatchi Gallery. Shane has also been booked for several brands including Polaroid Originals, Mezcal Amores and fave shoe label of Andy Warhol, Palladium Boots at Art Basel 2022. Shane recently toured Mexico and this summer is pleased to return to Houghton, Love International and his residency in Amsterdam one again. When home in San Francisco Shane’s monthly “Songs for Lovers” with partner Alvaro Z features guests like Nick the Record & Masha Mar. After releasing music on Roam, Crew Love, & PillowTalk, Shane is back in the studio once more in 2022....... ........Also in the line up: Legend and no stranger to Los Angeles, Mark E Quark - lending his ever evolving and mesmerizing sound to the room. You must know this noise by now... and please enjoy it while it lasts. Mark, a blessing in our community and a true friend and mentor. We are honored to call Mark E Quark a brother in the DFU. His gentle gaze and patience in any moment is welcomed. We can say that at any given beat, at any given time signature, Mark can run off w/ the room, and leave others shy about matching his mood. Locked in Quark is a thing to behold, and not to be forsaken. Along with Stephen R of Dusk Camp & The DFU, mostly credited with a longing to create a proper dance party and subsequent visual experience for community. Loves to take risks, and feels safe doing so. Opening duties go to L.A.'s own Yraam... - and no doubt she has some very special sounds in-store.
