Underground cinema and alternative music will blend seamlessly together at new pop-up cinema outfit VISIONÄRE’s debut event this April as part of the EAST END FILM FESTIVAL 2010.
Highlights of the day include:
A live performance by exotic and balearic tastemakers QUIET VILLAGE, premiering the visual side of their Silent Movie LP, a
mix of film-inspired electronica and psychedelia. An audio-visual showcase by JIGOKU, aka Lovely Jon and Cherrystones, inspired by classic exploitation cinema.
Followed by UK INNOVATOR ANDREW WEATHERALL playing a special 4hr post punk / no wave set.
Weatherall has shaped UK dance culture, firmly rooted in the leftfield underground dance scene.
Shoreditch’s Village Underground is the perfect venue to play host to this fantastic event. Set up by a London and NYC collective of filmmakers, music promoters, VJs and artistes, this former Victorian warehouse is now a state-of-the-art music and theatre venue, and its vaulted brick arches will provide the ideal backdrop to Visionäre’s inaugural audiovisual showcase and party.

In this documentary of the early 80s movement, we see the movers and shakers of this genre and listen to the minds behind one of the most innovative style of Art. We see Hip- Hop culture in action and travel to the South Bronx where most of it started. Discussing this new infusion of energy into the art work are dealers SIDNEY JANIS and TONY SHAFRAZI & artists CRASH, LADY PINK, FAB 5 FREDDIE, JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT, among others.
