for this one we welcome members of the longstanding Activ-Analog label and it's more recent offshoot Abstracta Audio based in charlotte/winston-salem, old friends and true heros of NC techno. we're topping it off with SHAWN RUDIMAN from Pittsburgh who was supposed to play the RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE festival which never marerialized due to covid... both Shawn and Loner.9 are also members of the Detroit Techno Militia. SHAWN RUDIMAN (live - 7th City, Technoir Audio, Pittsburgh Tracks, Tresor, Detroit Techno Militia, etc) Pittsburgh's Shawn Rudiman has been making various forms of hardware-based electronic music since 1989. Initially known as one-half of the electro-industrial duo T.H.D., he shifted to techno near the end of the 1990s, and became widely praised throughout the underground electronic scene for his completely improvised live sets. He began releasing solo material in 1999 and formed the label Technoir Audio a few years later. His prolific output has ranged from gritty, aggressive techno to more dubbed-out explorations, and ambient material.

LONER.9 (live - Activ-Analog, Abstracta Audio, Detroit Techno Militia) Ja'Maul Redmond, originally from Flint, MI has also been putting out music since the late 90s (in classic underground fashion the now sought-after early releases on Activ-Analog didn't credit their contributers by name). this Nightlight favorite is a meticulous sound architect on par with the likes of Rob Hood, Dan Bell, etc. Ja'Maul is a true NC techno treasure with a voice and sound pallet all his own. not to be missed!

OOLONG and PAUL D (Oliver Long and Paul O'Boyle, respectively) hail from the same Activ-Analog / Abstracta family... both are excellend djs as well as producers, Oliver releasing original music as GnuTron and as part of the duo Jon Jerry and Paul as Waveshaper. all these guys have been ongoing inspirations to me for almost 20 years now.
