  • Dalston Den welcomes Al Wootton and Chano to play alongside Rough Cuts residents Kitsta and Shawn Cartier. Expect UK garage, breaks, dub and more.
  • After a short hiatus over summer, Rough Cuts is back with a series of four events to wrap-up 2022 in style. With residents Kitsta & Shawn Cartier having stepped up for curation duties, we're really excited to be back once again - rumbling the foundations down in our favourite basement. For our first soirée, we will be joined by Al Wootton & Chano for our latest exploration into the roughest cuts this side of the river - expect breaks, bass, techno, UKG, electro, dub, jungle & more. Thanks to a last min blessing from Hackney Council, we'll be going till 4am for this one, a first for Dalston Den. Get em while you can! Limited tickets OTD £5 entry before 10pm £10 entry after 10pm Al Wootton is a producer, DJ, artist and operator of the record labels TRULE and Amidah Recordings. Through his own releases and those on his label he navigates the zone between Techno, Dub, UK Garage, and sparse, hypnotic percussion workouts. He is also one third of the band Holy Tongue. Permeating the airwaves and killer party channels like a constructive virus, London based Shawn Cartier has roused the ears of all those he has hitherto reached in his fledgling career. Clocking up releases on mighty labels like ‘International Chrome’, ‘Childsplay’ and our affiliate Haŵs, his innovative rave methodology and expeditious BPMs have become superlatively synonymous with the hard and nasty sounds of the UK, more exclusively of the Event Series ‘Quest 808’ (which he co-runs). His DJ sets continue this wild rave energy with blends of every genre with the added touch of speed. Joining Shawn for their residency, Dalston Den veteran Kitsta will be back in her old stomping ground showing us all that she means business. Kitsta has been absolutely rising through the ranks, & these days you'll spot her in many of London's favourite spots. With releases on Sticky Tapes and a track also featuring on FNB010 & more on the way this year, Kitsta promises slamming breakbeat, wobbly basslines and euphoric trance. As a co-founder of The Beatriarchy, a platform which amplifies underrepresented artists, she is passionate about working to uplift others in the scene around her. Chano's early inspirations came collecting Rinse FM pirate shows from Dubstep Forum - the 'FWD' sound of London and heavy bass has always been a key inspiration to their selections. DJ'ing on and off since the age of 10; music and live radio have always been a part of their life. Early residencies on New Cross based student radio station Wired Radio blossomed into a love for radio - and it's this that drives their montly show on London Field's Netil Radio, with guests of late including London 160 queen plsk and Alabama based Jungle-Tekno producer extrodinare SWAPMEET! Always keeping an eye towards the cutting edge and bassy end of things - mixing in anything and everything along the way - the show is a personal and broad ride through all things that inspire
