Ein Konzert- und Partyabend, der mit der Stereotypisierung der künstlerischen Praxis von BIPoC-Musiker*innen bricht, kuratiert und gehostet von Ghostpoet.
Der Londoner Künstler und Musiker Obaro Ejimiwe entwirft als Ghostpoet düster-melancholische Klanglandschaften mit nachdenklicher Poesie, die sich in ihrer Eigensinnigkeit jeglicher musikalischen Genrezuordnung verwehren. Während des gesamten Sommerfestivals zeigt er gemeinsam mit Luiza Prado die performative Installation BLACKNUSS – Technologies of Joy, Care and Intimacy, und kuratiert zusätzlich diesen Abend im Club. Mit SONIC EXPLORATIONS 001 verfolgt Obaro Ejimiwe seine Strategie des Bruchs mit stereotypen, eurozentrischen Etiketten, die der musikalischen Praxis nicht-westlicher BIPoC-Künstler*innen kontinuierlich aufgedrückt werden. Live-Auftritte von dem kenianischen Klangkünstler und Ambient-Musiker KMRU, dem Future-Folk Duo dumama + kechou, das Klänge Nord- und Südafrikas fusioniert, dem Berliner BIPoC-Ensemble String Archestra und der Hamburger Sängerin Moyo Ray zeigen an diesem Abend ein weites Spektrum alternativer, herausfordernder und unangepasster Ansätze jenseits geläufiger popkultureller Mainstream-Klischees. Im Anschluss folgt ein DJ-Set von der Berlinerin Mokeyanju gemeinsam mit dem Host Ghostpoet.

A concert and party evening that breaks with the stereotyping of BIPoC musicians' artistic practice, curated and hosted by Ghostpoet.
As Ghostpoet, the London born, Berlin-based artist and musician Obaro Ejimiwe creates emotionally driven, introspective soundscapes with pensive poetry that defy any musical genre classification. Throughout the festival he will be showing the performative installation BLACKNUSS – TECHNOLOGIES OF JOY, CARE AND INTIMACY together with Luiza Prado, and also curated this night in the club. With SONIC EXPLORATIONS 001 Ejimiwe pursues his strategy of breaking with stereotypical eurocentric labels that are continuously imposed on the musical practice of non-western BIPoC artists. Live shows by Kenyan sound artist KMRU, the future-folk duo dumama + kechou, who fuse sounds of North and South Africa, the Berlin BIPoC ensemble String Archestra and Hamburg-based singer Moyo Ray will showcase a wide spectrum of alternative, challenging and non-conformist approaches beyond common pop cultural mainstream clichés. This will be followed by a DJ set of Berlin-based Mokeyanju together with host Ghostpoet.
