FEATURING: Reji (Air Snare Records) + Nishant Technoboy (Qilla Records) ======================================================================================================== ABOUT REJI:- Reji Ravindran (a.k.a rayG) has a musical experience which spans more than a decade. He has been the DMC Champion (PUNE) in 2000 & the War of the DJs winner (MUMBAI) in the year 2007. Reji was the first turntablist in an Indian nu-age metal band called Scag and also the brains behind India's earliest hip hop collective called "itch". He has deejayed with the likes of Jasper the "J" (AMSTERDAM), Tony (Zouk, SINGAPORE), Larry Holcombe from Def Inc. (UK), Nerm (Shiva Sound System - UK), Pawas (Spectral Sound/Brut!/Squonk - GERMANY), Ma Faiza (PUNE), Lloyd (Fire n Ice/ Poison), Russell Mendonca (Reaktiv Sound), Nasha (Order of the Essence), Arnold from Mumbai (Toolroom Records – GERMANY), Greg Pidc**k (Bad Pony Records - Montreal), Chris McGuinness (USA), Clement, Tatva Kundalini/Taamara (Chill Om Records), Khoparzi + Kargo Pluggy (3rd Thought Records), Tony (Temple - UK), Surbahar (Artomspheric – BULGARIA) and many more at venues like Blue Frog, Aurus, Zenzi Mills/Zenzi Bandra, Bonobo, Valhalla, Razz Rhino, Prive, Mikanos, Rock Bottom, Velocity, Club Escape, D – Ultimate/Tequila Lounge, Six Degrees & Rain in Mumbai, Crystal Ball, Polaris, High Spirits & 1 Lounge in PUNE and Scarlet in HYDERABAD. In 2008/09, Reji has been working with labels like Chill Om Records (INDIA) & Air Snare Records (BOMBAY/PARIS/BEIRUT) and he also promotes their music exclusively. Time Out magazine (MUMBAI) mentioned him as “one of the most influential DJs in the city”. He was also the first DJ to kick off Asia's biggest music festival, Sunburn 2008. At the moment, he is one of the few artists managed by Krunk, the alternative booking agency, along with various international/national musicians & groups like Djuma Soundsystem (DENMARK), Lounge Piranha (BANGALORE), Rodney Branigan (UK), BASSfoundation (DELHI), Bay Beat Collective and Sridhar/Thayil (MUMBAI). Reji has done exclusive radio shows in the past for stations like Sonar (Barcelona – SPAIN) & Global Vortex Radio (New York – USA). Besides deejaying, Reji has trained more than 500 men & women (local & international) in some of the biggest deejaying institutes/schools in Mumbai. He also organizes/promotes his monthly night called One Sunday, where upcoming DJs/musicians can showcase their talent & present fresh genres/styles in electronic music to the masses. Musically, Reji’s taste reflects a wide spectrum of music that dominates the ever diversifying music scene. However, he is mostly known for playing mind altering blends of electronic dance music, spanning from house, tech-house, tribal, progressive house & techno to melodic sound-scapes & breaks. http://www.reverbnation.com/reji ======================================================================================================== ABOUT NISHANT TECHNOBOY:- Nishant TechnoBoy is every bit the modern day acolyte-turned-guru, with his fresh and sublime style of Minimal, Deep House and Techno, which is ushering a new revolution and meaning to EDM right from the time he was gifted his first set of decks at a mere 17. Having been mentored by the stalwarts of the Indian EDM scene such as Tuhin Mehta ( Brute Force), Tarun Shahani (Boombaba), Arjun Vagale & Ash Roy ( Jalebee Cartel) and Reji Ravindran (Chill Om Records), the TechnoBoy began spinning his way through the industry in the year 2006 after bronzing his skills at the ‘Azerado Acoustics' academy where he also served as mentor. At just 21, Nishant's repertoire has grown to new statures, his resume is laden with phenomenal gigs such as the “One Sunday” (which is held once every month at the Club H20), the Beer Festival at the Mumbai Times Café as he shared the stage with of B.L.O.T, Boombay Central, Helium Projekt and Udyan Sagar and it only got better as he set the bar in techno-bliss for 2008 at Blue Frog for Bhavishyavani Future Soundz and later at Aurus (Jalebee Cartel) which had him receiving serious acclaims. Nishant ended 2008 with a huge New Year's gig at Club Utopia, Goa with Nikhil Chinapa and Pearl for Submerge and also played twice in the same week there for the sunset sessions. The first week of January kicked off with a Main techno set at Aurus in Mumbai in 2009 and also saw Nishant doing a Sunset Set at the Vie Lounge, Mumbai. He also blew the place apart in Pune with two consecutive gigs at Gaia (Main Set) and with an opening and closing set for the maestro Ahmet Sendil at the One Lounge. Not one to restrict his inner, creative flux of energy, Nishant is constantly testing the waters of his musical ability. His new project called Wyrd Tribe is a Live Techno act with Maitreya Shah that mixes the forces of the digital and the analogue to spin some sublime minimal & techno music with a lot of experimental sampling and effects. Nishant has also been signed as a Label DJ / A&R for Qilla Records, Delhi, which will showcase some futuristic-tech live acts and DJs that will help promote the sound and vision of the label across the world. He also works for Awdio.com, which broadcasts Live Music all over the world from different clubs, and he also manages gigs and handles promotion for Bhavishyavani Future Soundz along with Mmat and Charlee. Nishant does regular gigs at Aurus with Mathieu for Bhavishyavani Future Soundz.He is also actively involved as and A&R with Cyrus (Ohm Records) and Tarun Shahani for the Urban Distortion festival which is scheduled for December 2009 which showcases the Best of Electronic and Acoustic Music bands and djs from all over the world. His endearing love for techno is unmatched and he is obsessed with mass-proliferating the sounds through out India, educating the masses about new sounds and genres, to bring the very best in the business down and to expose the country to their talents. http://www.myspace.com/technoboyofficial ======================================================================================================== ABOUT THE EVENT:- In a city where the club scene is being plugged with Bollywood & commercial music, One Sunday brings a respite to all the talented DJs in the city who want to showcase their talent through EDM (Electronic Dance music) & other alternative genres/styles of music. This particular specialization in music has primarily been the domain of international artists who come to the city for major events. Irrespective to that, there is no dearth of local talent. One Sunday is a monthly (1st Sunday of each month) DIY event conceptualized by Reji (Air Snare Records) & Nishant Technoboy (Qilla Records). Established in April ‘08, it is an avenue where upcoming DJs can showcase their talent and present fresh genres/styles in music to the masses. The earlier events in the series were held at H2O, a small old club in Khar. Here, an array of upcoming local artists/DJs like Addy (resident @ Valhalla), Arnold from Mumbai (GF Recordings/Vapour Recordings/ Air Snare Records), Tony (Temple/MoS Box - UK), Amul (resident @ Zenzi), Kargo Pluggy + Khoparzi (3rd Thought Records), Russell Mendonca (Reaktiv Sound), Lil’ B and MUTE! (Pradeep Maharana) have spun their signature sounds…. giving us many memorable evenings! However, due to lack of support from the venue & funds from any sponsor, the event had to be discontinued on March ’09. After more than a year of groundwork & proposals to various clubs, we are delighted to resurrect One Sunday, this Easter (April 4th ’10) @ Zenzi Mills. The merger has been just perfect as lately Zenzi Mills has been enhancing its reputation for promoting fresh upcoming talent. Plus, it’s a prestigious venue with one of the best sound systems (Funktion One) in the city…. the perfect platform for any upcoming musical talent. One Sunday emphasizes on fresh sounds by the featured DJs in their style of EDM (house, progrsv, techno, breaks, glitch-hop, dubstep, drum n bass, IDM etc.). In fact the event is now known for its real underground (& unheard of) music.
