Kaleidoscope is excited to partner up with 5th Dimension Detroit to continue to strengthen the bond between our beautiful cities, and share the spirit of the underground. Expect nothing but pure, unadulterated techno.

Zen Zero (5th Dimension, Detroit)
Hailing from the Rust Belt suburbs of Detroit, Chris Macom, aka Zen Zero, began his music journey through love of computers. Coming of age in the burgeoning Detroit rave scene of the late-90s, Chris was exposed to underground house and techno. Playing house parties, dances, and graduations allowed him to hone his DJ skills and nuances of playing for a crowd. In the early 2000s, Chris and his longtime friend started the first Detroit Techno blog and podcast, which became one of the Top 10 Techno blogs in the world. From here, Chris’s DJ career took off, and you could find him playing at many of Detroit’s dance clubs.
Recently, Chris formed 5th Dimension Detroit with some like minded DJs that encompasses a record label, series of parties, and a crew of DJs.
Chris is currently in the studio working on his next album and music video that he hopes will take him to an even higher level. As his name implies, he tries to traverse the Techno landscape with Zen and Stoic philosophies in an attempt to live clear minded and do what comes natural.
His music is heavily inspired by nature and a love for the Michigan’s outdoors and he hopes to integrate that within his being to redefine Americana from a sonic perspective, and inspire listeners to unlock their own natural talents to achieve greatness.
Rirkin (5th Dimension, Detroit)
RIRKIN learned to mix when he was 10 years old from his older brother who was a dj in college. Being influenced by underground rap/hip hop, jazz, roots reggae, punk, and ska, Rirkin always made sure to keep his ears to the underground and away from the radio.
Rirkin linked up with Zen Zero and VSRL to make 5th Dimension Detroit a fresh force in the Detroit Techno and House community focused on roots, underground, and raw music, no mickey mouse gimmicks. Traction has been good and there is no sign of slowing down.
Marivs (Resource Records USA, Blast Records DE)
Marivs is one of the few techno artists in Toronto and is an advocate for the city’s underground techno scene. Born and raised in Romania, he first became dazzled by electronic music and came to understand its values in the early 90s.
A perfectionist and a purist, Marivs has an innate ability to manipulate his music like few others can. His presence behind the decks is commanding yet inviting, in a similar way that his selections are dark and driving, yet delicate.
Marivs’s vision is to expose his audience to the true values of techno culture: to appreciate the beauty of the art, rather than to create idols.
Look for his follow up EP on Resource Records, which will be released this fall.
