Spice with Nic Scali + Murat Kilic

  • ******************************************** NIC SCALI (SYDNEY) ******************************************** Nic Scali aka Nicky Ninetoes was destined to be a professional sailor until he lost a toe in a tragic skurfing accident, when he turned to music to "fill the gap." "Anything with a groove" is how Nic likes to describe his own taste of music. You can find this new young talent on the dance floor of Sydney's parties most weekends, as he puts it "I just love to party." One definitely gets this feeling when listening to his DJ sets, where he plays anything from 90s house music to the newest techno tunes but all the time making sure the people are moving and the party is grooving. Before he even turned 18, Nic was throwing parties at clubs for all his friends just so he could play the music he wanted. As he matured so did his taste in electronic music leading him to a deeper more refined sound influenced by the underground house and techno scene in Europe. He is also influenced heavily by his passion for jazz and rhythmic percussion. Running the infamous Thursday night "Space Cadets" at the Bunker in '08/'09, and the successful Friday night "House Inspection" at the Civic he has put on parties featuring international DJs such as Audiojack, Ewan Pearson and Nima Gorji. Recently booked for the upcoming Creamfields in Sydney you'll find Nic playing on the house stage alongside DJs such as Joris Voorn and Steve Rachmad. Watch this space as this young'un continues to party his way through Sydney dragging along anyone who wants to join in the fun. ******************************************** MURAT KILIC (Stil Vor Talent, SYDNEY) http://www.myspace.com/muratkilic ******************************************** Raised in the suburbs of Sydney by strict Turkish parents on a diet of classical Turkish music played back on a Grundig reel to reel player not much smaller than a fridge. Listening to "foreign" music, least of all bangin' electronica was far from acceptable and certainly not tolerated in the Kilic household. Despite these hurdles, as avid young music lovers, Murat and his sister were able to maintain a healthy stash of records, mixtapes and music videos under the cupboard in their bedroom for many years. Maybe this was the perfect upbringing for him because this deprivation has yielded a profound and undying love for hoarding music and an ear for anything to seriously rock a dancefloor. Murat has been an avid collector of music (particularly on vinyl) since his early teens circa 1982 when he used to dodge school to sniff out rare wax at Sydney 2nd hand records stores Ashwoods, Martins and The Record Plant. Murat plays at Australia's leading tech clubs regularly. In Melbourne: Pretty Simple @ FFour, La Di Da, Darkbeat @ Brown Alley, onesixone, Revolver, Tramp and Killing Time. In Sydney: Lost Baggage, SPICE After Hour, Chinese Laundry and Likes of You. In Queensland, Murat has played the most respected nights such as Drop @ Moonbar, Logic @ Bar Soma and Elsewhere Sundays on the Gold Coast. Overseas gigs 2007-2009 include The Egg London, Follow The White Rabbit in Paris, Horst Kreuzberg Berlin, Sunrise Party Salvador-Brazil, Transit @ MV in New Caledonia, Roxy Club Prague, Love Parade Germany 2007/2008, Palais Club Munchen & Blanco in Istanbul to name but a few. Murat has a strong tech influence and this is reflected during his sets. His style is an intelligent blend of minimal tech, tech house, techno and acid. "At the end of the day, it is all about educating the crowd without boring them. Teaching people to appreciate new music whilst still getting them to dance themselves to oblivion". ******************************************** brought to you by RECKLESS REPUBLIC - a higher state
