We're honoured to bring Gerald Donald to Newcastle to perform live under his ARPANET alias. It's difficult to articulate the influence that Gerald's music, attitude, and mystique has had on electronic music. His releases/aliases/collaborative projects are countless, and the themes and topics they explore are wide-ranging; Afrofuturism, particle physics, clairvoyance, sexual politics, digital communications, to name a few... Yet they're all connected with a sonic aesthetic that is uniquely recognisable, and they’re all universally cherished by his devoted fanbase.
SECRET STATE is the new project from UK techno stalwart Tobias Schmidt, whose back catalogue includes multiple LPs and EPs on Tresor Records. We’ve been huge fans of this new project since the first record on CPU back in 2018, the brilliant Zero Zero One EP. A Drexciyan influence is undeniable, but so too is the techno pop of YMO and Kraftwerk, all distilled down into a soulful electro sound that will complement the night perfectly.
