EVOL is:
Stephen Sharp and Roc Jiménez de Cisneros like to poke sticks at their favourite musical things, as well as their limits. Fuelled by imitation and the warping that comes with it, their work opens weird pathways to alternate versions of some of the most recognisable artefacts in dance music history. From weird acid anthems to the quixotic reverse-engineering of iconic synth sounds, their music is a love letter to post-acid house culture written from a different continuity, one in which hyper-repetitiveness, disfluency and slime reign supreme.
Their work has been published on labels such as Diagonal, Superpang, iDEAL, Presto!?, Editions Mego, or their very own Alku. Their live sets are an over the top stream of folding bass lines and pounding kick drums, often accompanied by intense light shows and disorienting atmospheres.
