Oscillate Wildly presents: Roska & James Blake

  • The england world cup campaign isn't the only thing that kicks off on the 12th of June (hence the late start). We present our first event in a big summer with two of our favourite artists of the last year, (hopefully with you all in good spirits after a win): Roska started as a UK Garage MC under the name Mentor around 1998. As scene and sounds change, Mentor slowly changed to Mentor Roska to Roska and slowly moved from MC to Producer and DJ. Anyone who's got their finger remotely on the pulse knows Roska is the leading figure of the underground sounds of London and all the ways that UK funky is intermingling with dubstep, house, and other genres. In the span of just a handful of releases and remixes, many on his own Roska Kicks & Snares imprint, has developed a trademark sound, highlighted by hard-hitting syncopated drum beats and a proclivity toward engulfing bass lines. This mix finds Roska combining many of his own creations with a mixture of unreleased heaters and a few of this nascent scene's biggest tunes. James Blake's first single and subsequent remixes for Untold's Hemlock Recordings whipped the critics into a frenzy and established him as the new kid on the block. 2010 looks to be the year he solidifies his arrival with a string of key releases and worldwide shows. As well as: Dowee (Lost Souls/Bedtime Bunnage) Russell Smith Tin Tin + More TBC Also look out for our next events: 29th July - 1st Birthday: Emalkay, Actress & Tomb Crew 10th September - Deadboy & Jayou + More TBC
