Presented by New Forms Festival, Sound Space offers a week of live music, facilitated listening, sound installations, and workshops at Performance Works rendered in 4DSOUND by Lobe Spatial Sound Studio, December 14-18.
Sound Space is a patchwork of live performances, conversations, and listening experiences facilitated by award-winning and emerging local artists alike. The program features Inuk artist Tiffany Ayalik, Vancouverite sound sculptor Loscil, Montréal-based guests Ramzi and Reliquary V, Brooklyn-based sound bath practitioner A Space for Sound, selections from the MONOM Catalogue, and many more.
This festival dedicates a space for communal listening and interaction through sound, bringing together boundary-defying sound artists, musicians, and multimedia creatives alongside pioneers of electronic music and spatial sound. Facilitated by a large-scale omni-directional speaker array assembled by Lobe Studio consisting of 40 speakers and powered by 4DSOUND technology.
As an organization committed to facilitating access to interaction and experimentation with multimedia art and electronic music, New Forms Media Society is excited to present Sound Space in partnership with Lobe Studio, taking place at Performance Works on Granville Island, on the unceded ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, & Tsleil-Waututh people.
