Das britisch-norwegische Duo blickt auf eine lange Zeit gemeinsamen Schaffens zurück. Alben wie „1×1 „mit den Singles "Cloud 9" und "Long Gone" haben die gesamte Szene inspiriert. Singles wie "Scaramanga" und "Intravenous" beeindruckten mit schönen Melodien sowie unfassbar präzisen Breaks. Mit einer Fülle von Features auf Labels wie UKF, BBC Radio One und Veröffentlichungen im DJ Mag hat ihre Musik weltweit großen Einfluss. Was Calyx & TeeBee auszeichnet, ist ihr Drang, Drum’n‘Bass als ein sich ständig neu formierendes Genre zu erhalten. Die beiden sind bekannt für ihren spezifischen Sound und mitreißende Live-Sets, ihre Gigs bestreiten sie als Back2Back-Sets, teilweise auf mehr als sechs Decks. So schrauben sie die Geschwindigkeit sowie die Zahl der Überraschungen und Permutationen nach oben. Nach den letzten beiden Alben, die sie via RAM Records veröffentlicht haben, präsentierten sie 2022 von dort aus mit „Plates“ das nächste Kapitel: Eine Hommage an die Dubplate-Kultur und damit an die Wurzeln des Genres. Die Tunes haben ein spezifisches und sehr organisches Old-School-Flair, abgemischt mit dem für Calyx & Teebee charakteristischen Sounddesign, das sowohl auf dem Kopfhörer funktioniert als auch im Club den nötigen Druck herstellt. Zusammen mit PRTCL als Vertreter der Humanoid Crew sowie unseren Recycle Residents Survey, Mr. Jay und MC Mace ist kollektives Ausrasten angesagt. In Box2 gibt’s ein ergänzendes und facettenreiches Bass-Feuerwerk, kuratiert von Impuls Basskultur. _______________________________________________________________ For two decades, Calyx & TeeBee have forged an unprecedented path at the forefront of Drum and Bass. They had already amassed an astounding back-catalogue spanning all of the genre’s seminal labels, before they came together to form a duo. In the years that followed, Calyx & TeeBee reached new heights with chart-topping singles, prestigious awards, a revered BBC Essential Mix and their acclaimed LPs: ‘Anatomy’, ‘All Or Nothing’ and ‘1X1’. By 2019, Calyx & TeeBee had built up yet another incredible body of work and once again they returned with new beats - and a brand new concept. The concept? ‘Plates.’ Taking it back to the days of acetate, ‘Plates’ will be a series of releases themed around original dub-plate culture, both musically and aesthetically - culminating in an album of the same name. This is a welcome return from one of the most revered double acts in drum & bass. Having released ‘War Dub’, ‘Cloak & Dagger’, ‘Look To The Skies’, ‘Made In Detroit’ & ‘The Fog’, the Plates project is now in full swing with many more releases to come.
