March 17th is the Irish national holiday, held to celebrate the life of Saint Patrick, who brought Christianity to Ireland some time in the 5th century. He is also said to have driven all the snakes out of Ireland, which is probably why the Irish are so sound. While the benefits of Christianity can certainly be debated, the bestowing of an early Spring festival cannot, even if the last thing the Irish need is a reason to get on the sesh. In honour of this mighty day, we have an all-star, all-Irish, full sausage DJ line up ready to crank the craic all the way up to neunzig.
Our headliner for the night is none other than the Don of ChiCarlow House, Eddie Reynolds better known as Tr One, and also recently under his new alias Themisto Man. Releasing music with his former partner Dean Feeney since 2007 on Fine Art Recordings, now solo Tr One has been responsible for a steady stream of bangers ever since, most recently with his From The Studio Of album series on his new Intrinsic Rhythm imprint in 2022. Tr One's tracks have also been remixed by the likes of Sonja Moonear, Cignol, Lerosa and John Heckle and have been singled out for praise by tastemakers such as the legendary Prosumer. For a taste of his stylish live sets, check out this whopper from last year's Open Ear festival. Equally comfortable on the decks as in the studio, his record collection is a veritable pot of gold and over the years Tr One has lent his support to gigs featuring Juan Atkins, DJ Stingray, Helena Hauff, Dave Clarke, Surgeon, Jeff Mills, DVS1, Maurice Fulton as well as Berlin favourite, Steffi.
Also making the trip over from the Emerald Isle for tonight's hooley is none other than one of Cork's finest ex-Berliners, DJ and producer, Paul Kav. Having held down residencies at top clubs in both his native Cork and the likes of Ipse in Berlin since 2003, Paul has released on Brooklyn label Frendzone with Ames Henry and the fantastic Octo Octa. We also have a welcome return to the Culture Club fold for our own latter day saint, Patrick Reddy, a Berlin based Irishman and a true Deejay's DJ who often shuns the spotlight he deserves thanks to his all-vinyl, genre spanning sets which never fail to ooze rare House, Disco and Italo class. He is joined on the night for a back to back set by his erstwhile collaborator, Mark Jennings, a selector known for meeting your dancefloor needs and guaranteed to succeed one record with another, and sure begorrah isn't that just the wholesome simplicity we need in these crazy times.
Rounding out the Paddywhackery line up are John Brady who has DJ'd with an unquenchable thirst for lighting up the sesh since the late 90s and Culture Club resident Le Fox, who will be on hand to dish out the lucky charms and club bangers in equal measure. Come for the craic, stay for the laugh, and sure look it, few yokes, be grand.
