Wrecked celebrates 12 years of music and hedonism with a lineup that showcases and affirms some of NY’s brightest recent talent. Anyone familiar with BASEMENT will know the music of Akua. Channeling the “raw and experimental” spirit of faster ‘90s techno, her sets shiver with quick-moving energy, shifting from bouncy, playful bangers to coiled, stone-faced slow burners. She is a frequent performer at BASEMENT, and a headlining set at Wrecked will give her a chance to steer the room in any direction she likes. Fellow polymaths Lychee and Furtive meet up for a b2b. Both are fixtures in the East Coast rave community for their DIY spirit, tireless organization and documentations of their peers. But most of all, they are both beloved for their tripped-out, versatile DJ sets. Lychee is mainstay in NY, bringing an effortless chug and a zero-gravity psychedelia to their techno sets. They have a fellow traveler in Furtive, who similarly favors the simmering and strange. Longtime friends, their chemistry is intuitive and effortless. This will be a ride to remember.
Residents and organizers Ron Like Hell and Ryan Smith take over STUDIO in celebration. No party in NY is quite like Wrecked: the “music first” policy remains unquestioned, while the party itself stands as a fresh iteration of a long-running tradition of queer liberation. Their guests have been some of the most respected DJs on the planet, but no one plays Wrecked quite like these two. They have a total mastery of the arc and command of the moment, taking dancers on a wild ride that oozes carnality and aesthetic rapture.
