Questo è un momento importante. Guardatevi attorno. La club culture è diventata ormai un alfabeto comune, non più un segreto per pochi eletti. La tecnologia, anche in musica, si è trasformata da scienza gestita da pochi operatori specializzati a rivoluzione che ha democratizzato tutto, rendendo totalmente accessibili mezzi e idee. Ognuno può essere l’eroe di se stesso, ecco. Il rischio è il caos, la babele di aspirazioni e di velleitarimi. Ma le opportunità sono moltissime. E i potenziali benefici, enormi.
In Italia tutti i segnali ci stanno dicendo che abbiamo decisamente imboccato la strada giusta. Non più periferia dell’impero. Ora dalle nostre parti siamo perfettamente sincronizzati con quanto succede a Berlino, Parigi o Londra, e anzi mostriamo una vitalità – quantitativa e qualitativa – davvero impressionante nel campo della club culture. Uno splendido esempio da mostrare a chi, anche giustamente in altri campi, accusa l’Italia di essere un “paese per vecchi” (o, altra faccia della stessa medaglia, di “bamboccioni”).
Un fenomeno nuovo.
Un fenomeno importantissimo.
Un fenomeno appassionante.
ED.IT è una celebrazione in grande stile di tutto questo: trenta label discografiche presenti in forze, un numero enorme di showcase, dj set, live set; tutto questo dal tramonto all’alba, in due intensissimi giorni, in locations importanti. Una riunione di energie creative davvero esaltante. Ma ED.IT è anche il momento dell’incontro, del confronto, della circolazione orizzontale di idee e di stimoli. Chi suona, chi mixa, chi produce, chi danza, chi ascolta e giudica: tutti sullo stesso piano. Il modo migliore per generare energie, consapevolezze, nuove suggestioni. Sotto l’egida illuminata della club culture. Benvenuti alla prima edizione di ED.IT

An incredibly lively reality with fundamental importance for the contemporary cultural panorama, able to define the future’s artistic routes as well as in the present: this goes for Europe, for the likes of sanctuaries as Berlin, London, Paris, but also for Italy, where the web of record labels dedicated to the production of electronic music grows surprisingly stronger (artistically and numerically, in terms of acknowledgement).
ED.IT calls upon this universe: because it has become ever more necessary to create an occasion to meet, confront each other, initiate new collaborations or simply just see where we stand, now that we are ever growing in numbers. It’s time to make acknowledgements , and take up responsibilities: the plot thickens. This will be an extremely interesting event, historically speaking.
For a special occasion, a special location is on demand – the Rivolta in Marghera, found at the feet of Venice, is a poly-functional space that accommodates up to 7000 people and is divided in numerous amounts of stages, and exhibition areas (it already hosts the monthly event Altavoz, one of Italy’s most exciting club culture reality).
The dates: 4th and 5th of june 2010. Four are the major themes (and logistics) into which the festival is subdivided. The thriving heart will be the Exhibition Area, with “stands” destined to around thirty participating record labels where they will present their productions and confront themselves with promoters, managers, agents, as well as producers and artists from other record labels. We can gladly cite some of the already confirmed record labels that will be present, such as the historic Minus Habens, the Bosconi that features the best of italy’s new generation minimal techno movement, Memento of Idriss D, who boasts artists such as Fabrizio Maurizi (already in roster m_nus) and Manocalda of the Pastaboys, whithout forgetting Thisorder, L.E.D., Zooloft and the napoletan school, represented at it’s best by Tibit and Claque. Two important roles in these two days will be the Workshop Area and the Conference Area, where encounters, confrontations and courses will take place: to find a large part of Italy’s electronic scene reunited under one roof is a great occasion to take advantage of, for the visitors as well ad the participants of ED.IT festival.
A dedicated area for performances plays a massive part: Showcase Area will be very vast thanks to the elaborate spaces (various rooms at disposal) and the long hours (from 21 until 5), to give the opportunity for all the invited labels to have maximum exposure of their stylistic flavor through live sets and dj sets. In true tradition of electronic music, as we know it from the techno and house revolution onwards, artistic research and entertainment go at the same pace. This is club culture.
