- Coloring Lessons x Your Love @ Public Records A meeting of the minds and hearts, the 3rd of September will see musclecars’ Coloring Lessons & Lakuti & Tama Sumo’s Your Love, join forces to present a day into night musical outing in partnership with Public Records. The event will kick off with a round table and a welcome from both crews, as well as a talk with one of New York City’s pioneering producers; DJ & bonafide legend, Yvonne Turner. The discussion will be followed by an all day b2b session in The Nursery, with Lakuti & Tama Sumo who will be bringing their Your Love party stateside for the 1st time. The party will then continue into the night, where local heroes, musclecars are joined by their special guest, Detroit Legend Scott Grooves, to present a very special edition of Coloring Lessons in the Sound Room. A bit about the parties: Coloring Lessons is a party crafted from the minds of musclecars (Brandon Weems and Craig Handfield); two born and raised New Yorkers, aiming to add value to their city’s community and nightlife culture. Their main goal has always been to construct an inclusive environment for their peers to be free and enjoy themselves. Building a community, a family, centered around a unified love for dance music, positive energy, and getting down. Each party is ensured to be a safe space for their community as a whole to come together, all while sharing the music of their roots. While the party and sound is not genre specific, it is heavily focused around house, disco, jazz, and soul, embracing the musical elements of their black and brown ancestors. The monthly party's intention is to bring New York City's dance music scene back to what it was during the golden era of NY nightlife, pulling on a lineage of inspirational spaces, such as The Paradise Garage, The Loft, Body and Soul, and 718 Sessions, to name a few. They aim to spread the music and sensibilities that have been influential to them, and share it with a younger generation of their peers. Past guest DJ’s have included Maurice Fulton, Josh Milan, Love Injection, Marcellus Pittman, Kenny Carpenter, Ron Trent, the late Carlos Sanchez, and many more. Your Love is a party birthed in London at the now defunct Dance Tunnel back in 2015, and now occurs twice a year at Corsica Studios (in London) and three times a year at Panorama Bar in Berlin. Your Love both in London & Berlin has had the pleasure of hosting guests such as Louie Vega, Marcellus Pittman, Francois K, Maurice Fulton, Sadar Bahar, Mark Grusane, Rahaan, Kyle Hall, Jay Daniel, Gifted & Blessed, Boo Williams, Rick Wilhite, musclecars, Chima Isaaro, Gayance, Errol, Alex Rita (Touching Bass), Shy One and more. Your Love celebrates music’s rich tapestry and affords revellers a moment to truly be at one with the music and those around them. A communal ritual to guide us out of the apocalypse into the future we all deserve.
