Passion Fruit is an annual summer series at Takoi starting in June and ending in September. The series is designed to connect three aspects that Takoi is passionate about - food, cocktails, and dance music.
For each event, we curate a fine roster of local deejays, create a couple of specialty cocktails using spirits from a brand collaborator, and serve them up alongside a menu of Takoi food classics. We also partner on each event with a charitable organization and donate a portion of cocktail sales. It is what we refer to as “A Party With a Purpose”. At the end of the day, It’s all about delicious food and drink, raising some dollars for a good cause and shaking a groove.
We invite Detroit staple, Mister Joshooa to our final event for the season. Mister Joshooa is no stranger to the Detroit music scene. He's made a successful career as both a deejay and head of bookings at the venerable TV Lounge for nearly 15 years. This includes one of Detroit's current longest running weekly events "TV Dinners", which features both local and international deejay talent. He is also a founder and resident of the now legendary Movement Festival afterparty "OK Cool".
His many talents carry over in the realm of production. He's appeared on labels 2020 Vision, DEQ, Cryovac and Planet E records and operates My Baby Records alongside Detroit producers, Ataxia. Mister Joshooa's music draws from a myriad of influences including house, minimal and breakbeat which serve as the base for his funky and freakishly twisted approach to dance music production. The results are both mischievous and enticing all at once. His latest release "Touch It" is now out on Party Store Records.
