  • Get to know one of the most distinctive contemporary artists in the Midwest. MGUN is known for his off-kilter, pleasantly bizarre productions and enrapturing DJ sets. He’s joined by Acid Daddy, who unflinchingly represents Chicago with all flavors of 303.

  • Midwest Plenty is designed from midwest raves as they emerged during the 1990s. The core is one of creativity, sonic exploration, and community. To that end, we seek an all inclusive space and, if we do it right, a transformative experience. For the first multi-room party, we tapped a cadre of unbelievable talent perhaps unknown to East Coast ears. Talent of this level from America's heartland during clubbing hours seldom happens. The live act and headliner, MGUN, distinguished himself from many Detroit musicians in 2010 as part of a project with Kyle Hall and then again the following year with the groundbreaking track, Harmnear. In his 13 years since, he has appeared in clubs all over the world displaying his exceptionally wide array of music. While some call him their favorite house DJ, others call him a gifted techno artist. For his first appearance in DC, we are having him bring his instruments for a very special live set. Check out his album "Axiom" for proof of his range. Following this live set is a midwest treasure, Jarvi aka Acid Daddy. If you are not familiar, they played numerous streams throughout the pandemic as well as released music on their outstanding label, identity spectrum. They bring an intense, heady groove to the dance floor brought by years of initiation in the Chicago underground scene. This paragraph is your warning that you will not be able to leave a dance floor where Jarvi controls the sounds. Starting off the night is Baltimore's own, Graham Hatke. A seasoned DJ, producer and party coordinator, Graham is still underrated even if he is finally starting to get headlining slots in the DMV. Expect him to expertly build the floor beginning at 10PM sharp. Upstairs in the Stereo Bar will be the perfect complement to the vehemence in the main room. Jackson Lee and Ben Jenkins, both from Memphis, TN, will be presenting a special showcase of Jackson's label, Mystical Disco. This label features tracks from hardware masters, slowed down sometimes for added effect. Check out Acid Quest by Paranoid Pyramid. These are two longtime friends and skilled musicians playing their favorite music for six hours, Memphis Style. So that is Midwest Plenty at Owl Room. An evening of midwesterners and outstanding talent. Bring the cushy soles on your feet and the open mind between the ears. This is the start of something unique in the district.
