Electronic musician and producer Matthew Herbert performs a unique live show, journeying into the origins of music: from its very beginnings to modern day electronics and sampling.
Slowly and gradually accelerating, this unique live performance bases its percussion sound from the bones from a racehorse skeleton, with flutes made from its bones, alongside the traditional instruments and samples of the horse’s life.
Layered with rhythms of instruments old and new which unite to a familiar sinfonietta style configuration, the music rises with the sampling of electronic loops, building to a crescendo, until all sound is replaced by a race horse: living, breathing, running. What results is a compelling physical performance, as well as a musical one.
