  • Development bring Freerange Records to Manchester to celebrate Tomson & Benedict's upcoming debut release on Freerange. Tomson being Development resident Tom Lynch. Alongside the pair of them is JIMPSTER from Freerange. Support is provided by Development Resident Chris Feinmann... FREERANGE PRESS RELEASE Tomson & Benedict are a Manchester based production/DJ duo whose partnership spawns a mutated deep house sound representing the morphing of old school house, garage and techno with future-thinking electronic synths and programming. With just a sprinkling of production work involving names such as Paul Randolph, Atjazz, Flowriders and Paris Brightledge these two young upstarts are certainly starting to make a name for themselves so we’ve stepped in quick to sign the duo up for their debut solo EP entitled Rainy Things. In it’s Telepathy Dub incarnation Tomson and Benedict go way old school with Chandleresque bass, smoothly building layers of arpeggiating synths and an intense and energetic vibe that belies its crisp and simple deep house groove. Next it’s Jimpsters turn for the remix, and here we see him take a slightly darker route by loosening up the beats, introducing some wobbling synth lines and doing away with the modulating chords in favour of a more reduced feel. This is warm, fat and dare we say enchanting stuff for the warm up. Finally we have the original mix of Rainy Things which is a simply sublime slice of halcyon House, dripping with sun-soaked strings and contrary to what it’s title suggests, purpose built for the long, lazy and hazy summer parties ahead.
