Celebrating the 75 th anniversary of the journey of the HMT Windrush from the Caribbean; leaving from Trinidad and travelling via Kingston Jamaica, Tampico in Mexico, Havana in Cuba and Bermuda, arriving in the UK on 22 June 1948 at Tilbury Docks in Essex.
As part of our summer of celebrations there will be Caribbean and Mexican street food, music from DJs, including legendary producer and DJ Ashley Beedle, from Shock Sound System in London, and local legend Nicky Rasta Yard Sound System in Ipswich, plus drum workshops, stalls, the Suffolk Windrush Book and more to be announced.
The event is part of Woodbridge Festival of Art and Music's summer programme of Windrush Activity, and we are very grateful to have been supported by the DLUHC's Windrush Day Grant fund.
