Greta Christensen and Camilla Sørensen, alias Vinyl -terror & -horror, explore the turntable and vinyl record in their rawest form. The visuality and physicality of the record grooves allows them to transform the playback medium into sculptural objects.
Their broken records– reassembled into ‘cut-ups’ like a collaged image – deliberately interrupt the musical flow of the samples, facilitating looping patterns and unexpected structures while mixing found sounds from across a wide spectrum of genres – from classical, folk and schlager music to vintage movie sound effects. In live concerts and sound installations Vinyl -terror & -horror push the idea of the turntable as an instrument constantly to the limit.
𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 & 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐚 & 𝐀𝐧𝐣𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐨𝐬
Extending their previous collaboration and research, the trio of Morgan Sully, Anjeline de Dios and bela will collectively expand their techniques of working with voice, self-made recordings and durational tonality. Starting with a custom-made archive of Anjeline’s disembodied voice, bela and Morgan will perform a sonic accumulation of the trio.
Morgan is an organizer and experimental electronic musician who draws creative strength from the vast diasporas of his fellow southeast Asian kin.
Departing from the interconnected punk, noise and rave scenes of southern California, his recent sonic homings invoke the music of his matrilineal roots from Borneo and Java. This history finds its gestural articulation in his performances that traverse chord and texture, recollecting more nuanced musical intervals and atypical rhythms.
Anjeline is a Filipina chant artist, cultural geographer, and meditation facilitator. She has taken her practice of improvised polyphonic chants to stages, residencies, and community healing spaces in Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, Berlin, Jogjakarta, Semarang, and Malmö. Parallel to this, she conducts research on the cultural geographies of migration, sonic labor, and identity. Anjeline obtained her PhD in Geography from the National University of Singapore.
Based between Seoul and Berlin, bela is influenced by Korean folk music and club culture. bela explores the depths of queerness and miscommunication across and beyond the boundaries of language by means of extreme vocal performance and written text, accompanying meticulous electronic composition. Their recent Guidelines EP was released June 2021 via Montreal label Éditions Appærent.
𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐚 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐬 & 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐲𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨
The duo presents an improvised high tension and beautiful empathy between two forceful vibratory universes: the slow moving deep oscillating textural mesh of Carla Boregas synthesisers and the hyper-active hyper-detailed feedback extended flute micro-rhythmic output of Marina Cyrino.
Carla Boregas is a Berlin-based Brazilian musician and sound artist. Her practice is focused on the creation of sonic environments through the manipulation of synthesizers, field recordings and acoustic sounds with emphasis on texture, repetition and sensoriality. She works across the spectrum of composition, improvisation, performance and sound installation. She also collaborates with artists from dance, film and theater fields. Recently Carla released her debut solo album called "Pena ao Mar" on the Swedish imprint iDEAL Recordings.
Marina Cyrino is a Brazilian flutist and sound artist currently based in Berlin. Her flute playing is characterized by singular techniques developed through the use of inside amplification. The rhythmic use of the flute, the extensive use of objects and balloons attached to the instrument, and the use of disassembled flute parts are other striking elements of her playing.
𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚
Daria Redkina (aka Zoya Zerkalski) is a Ukrainian sound artist , composer and performer working with research in acoustics, performance-based and immersive sonic art.
Her practice as a performer initiated with use of accordion and electronics as her instruments. She then redeveloped her accordion into singular reed organs studying the psychoacoustic effects of microtonalities. This self developed wind instrument is currently the musical object in focus of her electroacoustic experiments.
Dasha is running her own music imprint ZOV, founded in 2020, releasing collaborative musical works of nongenre.
𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐡𝐮𝐝𝐚
Cross-pollinating a wide textural range of influences, Broshuda's music incorporates elements of sound art, electroacoustic techniques, chopped spoken word dissections and field recorded material, as well as more rhythmically oriented and noise-heavy excursions.
Though kaleidoscopically varied, the work is held together by a playful sense of experimentation and a willingness to explore new directions of sound through an experimental approach and the use of freeform production techniques to expand and further his already broad sonic palette.
Pursuing a strong Fluxus inspired interdisciplinary ethos in his artistic output, the same attitude is applied to his audio works, resulting in detailed sketches which at the same time show and disguise their inner logic while transporting a diverse range of carefully distilled feelings and emotions.
