Matthew Herbert presents One Club

  • ELECTRONIC pioneer Matthew Herbert (Bodily Functions and Around The House) has embarked on a select international tour – One Club - to coincide with the release of the album of the same name. The record is the second instalment of this year’s One Trilogy, and sees Herbert return to his dance roots. The One Club live show uses as its basis the music made from sounds created solely by the audience and the fabric of the Robert Johnson nightclub in Frankfurt on september 30th 2009. The club was rigged with microphones, with some on the dancefloor, hung from the ceiling, in the dj booth, in taxis, the cloakroom, the bar and the toilets. Sounds recorded included people kissing, waving keys, whistling sounds to indicate their sexual preferences, beatboxing, singing and of course dancing. Every track of the project is named after people who were present that night. Matthew is releasing three albums in 2010 as part of the One Trilogy. One One, released in April, is his most intimate recording yet with Matthew singing for the for the first time. One Club is the second in the series and will be released in September. Finally, One Pig, made entirely from sounds sampled from the life, death and consumption of a pig, will be released early 2011.
