Coming to the club on July 21, and making his DC debut, we're chuffed to welcome Interstellar Funk.
For anyone that's been tapped into the scene for the greater part of the last decade, you already know who Interstellar Funk is. His ascent in underground electronic music culture has not come as a surprise to those within Amsterdam’s club scene. He was wowing home crowds long before he bagged a sought-after residency at now-departed venue Trouw, and more recently at it’s widely beloved successor De School.
It would be easy to repeat the tricks that saw him breakthrough, but instead, he prefers to have fun mixing up the old with the new and join the dots between inspirations from the past and take risks on unknown futures. That way, he manages to keep both himself and his dancers on their toes.
Interstellar Funk is always exploring different sounds. What marks out his productions and DJ sets is the love of the imperfections and eccentricities associated with left-of-centre analogue machine music. You’ll hear them within the new wave, electro, techno, jack-tracks, heavy electronics and everything in between that populate his DJ sets, as well as the solo records he’s released on Dekmantel, Berceuse Heroique and Rush Hour, the label, store and distribution company he’s been associated with since 2013.
Joining Interstellar Funk for the night of his DC debut are Jackson Ryland, Djoser and Samantha Francesca, three of DC's most consistent figures on the scene, and all incredible selectors, producers and human beings.
This is gonna be a wild night of sounds and textures that run the full gamut of electronic music. No genre, tempo or atmosphere is off limits.
When channels are open, the energy is source.
