sweethearts club (@sweetheartsclub_nyc) is bringing together bastiengoat, Tomu DJ, and Qemist — some of the very best juke, footwork, and jungle producers from the West coast and South, along with resident Mengze for a fun Friday night in Brooklyn.
bastiengoat
Bay Area born and raised, bastiengoat, has become a well known name amongst the Bay Area underground and beyond over the past decade. With productions that infuses sounds like techno, juke, breaks and jungle with west coast genres such as hard house, funk and hyphy, this artist melds together a plethora of club sounds. Always representing his raw Bay Area underground roots, you might hear hardcore gabber kicks over a keak da sneak sample. Atop the nostalgia and references, bastiengoat’s sound is also comprised of adventurous and wonky synthesis which lends a unique flavor and color to his sound. He has a quite an extensive and diverse catalog with DJs playing his tracks all over the world. A lot more is so come from this artist as he regularly drops EPs and is working on an album. Tomu DJ
Tomu DJ is a Chinese American producer. She is best known for her “Deep Americana” DJ set and getting 7.9 on pitchfork.
Qemist
Michael "Qemist'' Ivy is a multi-faceted electronic artist from Memphis, TN with a wide range of production and music creation techniques. Hailing from a traditional musical background while listening to house, techno, footwork, and club music, Qemist has emerged as a fresh, new electronic artist from the south. The Memphis Luminary has gathered up quite an impressive show run with high-energy sets at Good Room, The Lot Radio, Sucia ATL, The Bay Area's No Bias imprint, Deep Tropics, D.C.'s Black Techno Matters, SXSW, NXNE, and St. Vitus in Oklahoma to name a few. Qemist also runs his own underground radio broadcast “Computer Noise” on WYXR 91.7FM in Memphis and has over 75 archived shows full of hand-picked dance music records. Qemist flows through the ever-changing DJ realm with ease and has been met with outstanding reviews from music publication giants like Apple Music, Resident Advisor, and NESTHQ for his heady club mixes with melodic, lounge-style productions cementing the hype and skill surrounding this bright one to watch.
Mengze
Mengze is a Brooklyn-based DJ, producer, and organizer of sweethearts club. They love to play and produce a wide range of club music, with an emphasis on bass music. sweethearts club celebrates the QTBIPOC community and aims to be a kind and nurturing space.
