For the folk behind this Barcelona-based lifestyle party, Matinée has become a way of life.
The award-winning party caters to a LGBTQIA crowd, but celebrates in a way which transcends sexual boundaries. Much more than simply a gay ghetto, the party's profile has risen with its style of joyful House music and elaborate stage show, from the days of Space Ibiza to its new permanent home of Amnesia.
An Amnesia party since 2009, although conspicuous by its absence in recent times, Matinée causes a scene by returning in 2023. The party attracts a predominantly Spanish crowd and that is unlikely to have changed in the interim, as it looks to recapture the glory years.
If the Ancient Greek god of wine, Dionysus, was teleported to modern times, you can bet your life he'd be indulging in the finer things in life at Matinée. The cloven-footed one might even have joined the animation team and trawled the beach by day, handing out flyers to hunks in trunks.
After a successful return to Amnesia in May, Matinée is back at the end of summer for another party. André Vicenzz, Flavio Zarza, Iordee, J.Louis, Juanjo Martin, Lydia Sanz, Taito Tikaro and Rebeka Brown (live PA) are all back on Friday 15 September.
