  • Subterfuge Seminars present: AXED #9 with ROB GEE (USA), SHOWBOAT (NSW), DJ SPEEDLOADER, ENCRYPTER (live), DOC ROSS, JOR TERROR & NINJA GAIJIN Saturday 23rd September, 6pm - 1am @ QQQ ST. Park, 2 Peel St Collingwood, Melbourne Victoria ROB GEE (USA) [oldschool `90s set] DJ, producer, artist, vocalist, and role model — these are just a few words to describe the American hardcore legend Rob GEE. Born and raised in New Jersey, Rob GEE has been a key player in the international hard dance scene since the early 90s. His career began at the Limelight nightclub in New York, where he would sneak in records and hop on the decks at any opportunity to play. Today Rob GEE is a household name in the hardcore scene, having performed all over the world in countries including the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Italy, Spain, Scotland, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Belgium, Colombia, Chile, France, and too many more to name. Rob GEE has taken the stage at many major international festivals such as Sensation Black, Mysteryland, Thunderdome, Tomorrowland, Love Parade, Defqon 1, Dominator, Decibel, and Electric Daisy Carnival. Rob GEE’s eclectic music taste and fuck genres mentality has provided him with the opportunity to collaborate with not only major artists in the hard dance scene such as Partyraiser, Dr Peacock, and the Prophet, but across other genres as well. Rob GEE’s tracks cover a myriad of genres outside of the hard dance scene including, but not limited to, hip-hop, rock, and metal where he has collaborated with members of System of a Down and Slipknot. Rob GEE has shared the stage with everyone from Hatebreed and Biohazard to The Crystal Method, Busta Rhymes, Kurtis Blow, and Afrika Bambaataa. One of Rob GEE’s most notable successes to date is the release of “Ecstasy, You Got What I Need". The song went gold and was the #1 video on The Box for 13 straight weeks in the Netherlands. At the same time, "Ecstasy" rose to #9 on the pop charts and earned him Best Artist, Best Producer, and Best Song of the Year at The Thunder Awards in Holland. SHOWBOAT (NSW) [all vinyl] [[DISTORTION]] Showboat started listening to hardcore in 1994, came up through the Sydney rave & hardcore scenes and started spinning vinyl at gigs in 1996. First big booking was at one of Geoff da Chef's infamous Distortion parties and with that he became a regular in the Sydney hardcore scene. Showboat's preferred style is in the oldschool 1995-1997 Thunderdome style as well as speedcore from the era (along with a dash of the millennium style of 1998-2004). Making the pilgrimage to Thunderdome in Holland, Showboat came back inspired and re-energised to push the early rave sound & vinyl culture that made hardcore what it is. DJ SPEEDLOADER [all vinyl] Since first laying needle on vinyl in front of a crowd in 1991, Dj Speedloader has made tens of thousands of punters either go nuts on the floor- or shake their head in disgust..this old bastard has been on the cutting edge of the harder side of dance music for over 30 years and shows no signs of ever slowing down! Cutting his teeth in the Canberra and Sydney gabber scenes and playing parties across Australia throughout the `90s, he has for the last 20 odd years been based in Melbourne - featuring on legendary sound systems and playing with crews such as Earthcore, Virus, AKA, Versus, Tekno Mulisha, Gabber Society, Axed & Crack, as well as many, many smaller gigs and some very special headline slots overseas. Since releasing his first album on Bastard Squad Records in 1998, he has had releases and remixes with Dysphemic, Bastard Squad, Rotjecore Records, No Sleep Till BedTime, Clan Analog and others. Still considered as one of the hardest DJs across Australia and still producing and releasing new destructive tunes, come see what 30 years of hardcore brings you (and come have a beer) with Dj Speedloader. ENCRYPTER (IRELAND) [live set] [[RHYTHMIC SHIFT / SEQ ARP]] Encrypter is a hardware-focused composer and producer of tough electronic music. He has been obsessed with texture and processing recorded sound since he was a teenager, capturing field recordings on his walkman as fodder for creating garbled noisescapes through cheap guitar effects. Since these early days, he has released ambient, downtempo, industrial hardcore, glitched-up jungle, splittercore and a variety of unique takes on techno through his original works and remixes for the likes of Myler, Diarmaid O Meara and Weever. His Power Struggle EP on Industrial Strength Records and previous output on Motormouth Records has seen international support from the likes of The Outside Agency, Innovative, Stormtrooper, The Relic, Dep Affect, X-core and Ragnarok.Encrypter’s DJ sets often bring together the many genres he has worked in - industrial, glitch, techno, old-school rave, electronica and jungle - a mix of synthesised and sampled sounds, focusing on an atmospheric blend of deep textures and spaces alongside rave stabs, drones and breaks over punishing, heavy, constantly evolving drum timbres. As a founding member of the Untz and Pressure events, he pushed hardcore on Irish crowds for almost a decade and supported the likes of Detest, Stormtrooper, N-Vitral, Djipe and DJ Rush. His time is currently spent running the left-field techno event Rhythmic Shift and the hardware techno label SEQ ARP Records. For this event Encrypter will be playing original hardcore performed with live hardware. DOC ROSS [all vinyl] [[EVIL EYE]] Doc Ross is a hardcore, breakcore and speedcore DJ, producer, promoter and label owner from Melbourne, Australia. A regular in the Melbourne rave scene of the early 1990s, he started collecting techno and hardcore records, and DJ'ing at private parties, around 1993. Between the late 1990s and the mid-2000s Doc lived abroad and became immersed in the German electronic music scene. Doc has since become a mainstay at hardcore and breakcore events in Melbourne, playing for crews including Destroy Ordinary, Post Traumatic Amnesia, Disorder, No Sleep Till Bedtime, Axed, and numerous smaller crews. Doc was bossman of the infamous Crack sound system which hosted a series of club and later squat parties around Melbourne between 2009 and 2013, and now heads up the Tectonic events which showcase all styles of techno. Doc owns Evil Eye Recordings, the only record label in Australia releasing hardcore, breakcore and speedcore exclusively on vinyl. And in case you were wondering, the Doc is a real doctor, with a PhD in earth sciences. JOR TERROR [all vinyl] [[TERRORDRANG / P.O.R.N.]] Jor first began DJing parties while attending high school in Holland in 1998. Always in the habit of playing faster hardcore tracks like Nasenbluten's 'C**tface', he was thus dubbed with the name 'Jor Terror' to help a punter know exactly what one should expect from his sets. Having played seminal Dutch events including P.O.R.N. (Akira), Noisekicks Verouderings Process & Terrormachine. In 2003 (along with two other crew members) Jor started to also promote his own shows. Mainly spinning oldschool terror and hardcore with a focus on 93-94 era tunes (the period when nobody knew exactly what they were doing, a predicament which usually ends up resulting in the best music). Member of 'The Axed Brothers' alongside Dr Terror. Since 2018 he has been running the Axed parties along with co-organiser Ninja Gaijin. NINJA GAIJIN Ninja began playing in indie rock, improvised harsh guitar noise & grind/crust bands in 1997. Since 2000 he has been producing electronic music and DJing since 2004. His main styles include jungle choppage, darkstep/skullstep dnb, breakcore, industrial hardcore, terrorcore and speedcore. He began putting on concerts in 1998 and has been running club events since 2007. He runs Subterfuge Seminars promotions and since 2018 has been running the Axed parties along with co-organiser Jor Terror. ----- POSTER DESIGN BY: Doc Ross ____________________________________________ AXED is a club night focused on the harder and darker side of electronic music.
