SUPERNOVA, the latest event series by RSO resident, Xiorro, is an in-house concept under the banner of his label, Whirlwind Trax. Being one of the masterminds behind the now defunct Brooklyn off-site and warehouse series, The Black Hole, this marks a new chapter for Xiorro in his new home of Berlin. Departing from the previous ALKHEMY days, Xiorro has once again embraced his roots with retaining the essence that made The Black Hole event series so cherished within the Brooklyn underground dance community from 2016 up until it’s last event on February 8th, 2020, but with a fresh direction.
On September 22nd, this initial nebulous collision features Exhale’s Koboyo hailing from Paris. Co-founder and pillar of the Exil Paris collective, Koboyo mixes catchy rhythms and punchy percussions and rarely resists tapping into his old-school Techno, Detroit, and Berlin references to increase the temperature and transcend his audience with his hypnotic Grooves. This first ride also features Deadline Records’ founder, Versus, from Hamburg, who’s proven his knowledge on the old school and groovy side of the spectrum with recent releases on Trym’s COLOR label as well as KTK records and AKRONYM. Paris-based and Molekül affiliates, Incident Prism and Pavel K. Novalis, join in on the orb as well with their infectious grooves and basslines to maximize cabin pressure with a b2b. Also adding to the journey is former Black Hole resident, Brooklyn’s BUZZI, who contributes to the expedition with driving rhythms and gut-wrenching kickdrums. To ensure that are all systems are a go for the launch, Adrestia joins forces with Xiorro for another synchronising b2b.
Just as like at The Black Hole, SUPERNOVA is geared towards offering an intimate setting for the night and avoiding external pressures and distractions (Berlin’s no photo and no video policy also ensures that all guests are fully present and immersed in the moment) while welcoming with the philosophy of inclusivity and acceptance for all segments of the community continuing here as well. All guests are invited to shed societal norms and come as they are in order to foster an environment of authenticity and unity.
