About Necto and Ann Arbor:
Founded in 1965 as "The Nectarine Ballroom", Necto is Ann Arbor's largest nightclub featuring a diversity of club nights including Goth/Industrial Night and Pride Night since 1984. Necto also boasts a rich reputation of hosting an impressive variety of electronic acts. Notably, Jeff Mills had a residency there and performed again in 2012. Most recently, Necto has seen the likes of Inner City, DJ Minx, and DJ Holographic grace the decks on the main floor. And of course, we hosted DJ Seoul of Detroit Techno Militia in the "Red Room" last March. The Red Room, situated underneath the main floor, offers the feel of the underground in a smaller, more intimate setting, more true to the ethos of Techno. An actual quote from our last party, "If I close my eyes, I feel like I'm in Detroit". More broadly, Ann Arbor is "Detroit's nerdier younger brother", at least according to Dan Sicko in his seminal book "Techno Rebels: The Renegades of Electronic Funk". It is the birthplace of Ghostly International on which Matthew Dear released the ubiquitous Hands Up for Detroit.
