WELCOME TO THE MARCEL DETTMANN PHONOX RESIDENCY,
We couldn’t be more excited to welcome one of the most influential techno proponents in history, Marcel Dettmann, across 4 Fridays at Phonox.
Raised in communist East Germany, this is the place where Dettmann found his passion for counterculture electronic sounds, from post-punk and new wave to industrial noise, an early influence before his later immersion into techno. Post reunification, Dettmann became a part of the Berlin clubbing landscape thanks to his fabled residency with Berghain (and it’s predecessor Ostgut), which he’s held from 1999 to today, a total of 25 years in the world’s most revered nightclub…
Reduced and rough, emotional and unpredictable, Dettmann’s contemporary techno sound (and his innovate integrations of sound with visual art) have become legendary through his productions and DJ sets. In challenging societal times such as now, the intense release you can get from a deep cutting sound like Dettmann’s on the dancefloor couldn’t be any more valuable.

After joining the list of clubs tracking one the most elusive and sought after artists of our world, with apparent dead ends aplenty, with the help of Marcel Dettmann we are bringing one of the most exciting electro, techno and EBM names back for his first UK show in 4 years, Gesloten Cirkel, for a live show.
The full live show has only graced select dance floors and is the sonic attack to the senses, fusing those untouchable underground anthems with live hardware experimentation, twisting acid techno and electro into brave new forms. This is going to be wild.

HÖR BERLIN MAINSTAY BASHKKA ROUNDS OFF THE BILL.
A HÖR mainstay (and Berghain regular) from the same scene is Bashkka. Inspired heavily by New York’s Ballroom scene (where she spent 10 years) her sets are sensual, hard hitting, high energy and politically minded. Her recent release Maktub EP, featuring the face melter that is Act Bad, perfectly summarises the feeling of her DJ sets.
