With 10 years of DJ experience under their belts each, playing in live groups and smashing the clubs on the regular; Affiks & A13 have been responsible for helping introduce Melbourne to the dubstep, future beats and glitch-hop sounds that have spawned from underground studios all over the globe. Acknowledging their affinity almost instantly, the duo have since started writing tracks and playing back-to-back DJ sets at the popular monthly club night Heavy Innit. Recently supporting some of their favourite artists and key players such as Joker(UK), The Bug(UK), Harmonic313(UK), Starkey(USA) and Truth(NZ) and Dexterous(The Others-UK), Plastician(UK), Joe Nice(USA), 2562(NL), Nero(UK), Excision(CAN), Emalkay(UK), PINCH(UK), 16BIT(UK), Skream(UK), and Benga(UK). With bookings coming at them left, right and centre, it seems that the late nights aren't going to end anytime soon. MC FRAKSHA (Heavy Innit!! / Taos Records / Melb) http://www.myspace.com/fraksha Earning his stripes in the UK’s underground live circuit, Fraksha has proven himself to be one of the UK’s finest MC’s. As a founding member of the UK outfit Nine High, Fraksha has always been destined for big things. Having shared the stage with artists like Skinnyman, Klashnekoff & Blak Twang, Fraksha has honed his craft and sold out two mixtapes - a testament to his tenure in the UK scene. Opting to move to the greener pastures of Australia in 2006, Fraksha hit the ground running, joining Aria Award winning Bliss N Eso on their sold out Get Loose tour, giving Fraksha the opportunity to slide into the Australian Hip-Hop scene with ease. With the love received on the Get Loose tour, Fraksha re-pressed his Take Two (Nine High) mixtape which received rave reviews and sold out within just a few months of release. Since his 2006 arrival into Australia, Fraksha has shown his versatility, being regularly booked to perform at cross-genre events (dub step, drum and bass) displaying his unique UK flow and demonstrating his refusal to be boxed in to the ‘hip hop’ mould. From drum n bass, to grime, to dancehall to dubstep and anything in-between, you name it, he can rap on it. An in-demand host for events throughout the country, Fraksha is perhaps best known for his residencies at Melbourne’s biggest dubstep parties; Wobble, Heavy Innit and Too Much. With a critically acclaimed self titled debut album with Nine High (released July 2009) under his belt and collaborations with notable Australian artists such as Reason, Ciecmate, Phrase, Choose Mics, M-Phazes, Autism and DJ Bonez, Fraksha is now a well known and widely respected MC in the Australian scene. In 2010 we see Fraksha coming together with fellow MC’s Diem (Hospice Crew), Scotty Hinds (Nine High) and Murky Depths to start what is Australia’s first grime crew “Smashbrothers”. Noted for their high energy live shows and regular radio appearances, Smashbrothers are THE crew to watch in 2010. Most recently, Fraksha has released his first solo offering “It’s Just Bars”, the first official grime release to come out of Australia. It’s Just Bars has received rave reviews throughout the country and the first single “Next Sound Level” (check out the music video on youtube) has since been remixed by Loco, MatCant (Scattermish) and renowned dubstep producer Spherix. An MC of many genres, Fraksha is one of the hardest working MC’s in the country and is destined to continue dominating the Australian music scene. FRAKSHA HAS PERFORMED ALONGSIDE ARTISTS: Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, The Game, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, N-Type, Dizz1, Cotti, Starkey, Kito, Joe Nice, Emalkay, Excision, Nero, Silkie and Anti-serum BLUNT INSTRUMENT (Run Riot Records / Mambo / Swingset Sounds) http://www.bluntinstrumentmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/bluntinstrumentbeats A 5 minute lesson in beat mixing on a small farm in Northern New South Wales was the catalyst for 5 years of sharing a musical brain that has culminated into the production duo of Blunt Instrument. Fueled by an addiction to the early ninja tune catalog the production style of Blunt Instrument began as sample based instrumental hip hop, drawing inspiration from pioneers like DJ Food and the ubiquitous DJ Shadow, along with artists from the classic mid 90’s era of rap like A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, Jungle Brothers and so many others. Like any good addiction, a desire for more has pushed Blunt Instrument forward in new directions, searching the for the freshest beats, the most unique sounds and the heaviest bass – Amon Tobin, Tipper, Bassnectar and a sound called glitch-hop was their new destination of choice. http://soundcloud.com/rola-de http://www.myspace.com/speakerwrath http://www.myspace.com/delahaye http://www.myspace.com/kosha_d @Moonbar, top level Empire Hotel Cnr Brunswick & Ann Sts.
