This October 22nd, we invite you to a quintessential concert in TreePeople's S. Mark Taper Foundation Amphitheatre, where lush greenery grows towards the skyline of Los Angeles, to witness the alchemy of music intertwining with the tranquil beauty of our environment.
While Laraaji weaves his sonic tapestries, the world falls away, and we are transported to a realm where time and space surrender to the sublime. Each phrasing becomes unique vessel for joy, euphoria, bliss, wielding an instrument of liberation that touches the depths of one's soul. In Laraaji's hands, a piano becomes a portal to the extraordinary, a conduit for the human spirit to soar beyond the constraints of the mundane. It's why we're hauling a grand piano to an oak grove along Mulholland Drive!
We're also taking this moment to honor a most beloved compilation of our lifetimes, I Am The Center: Private Issue New Age In America, 1950-1990, which turns 10 years old this month. Spanning decades, I Am The Center offers a mesmerizing glimpse into the spiritual and experimental sounds that emerged from these fringes of American music. As the first major anthology to survey the golden age of new age, we're eternally grateful for the love and labor that went into realizing this album, and have invited our friend and the album's producer Douglas Mcgowan to sit in conversation with Laraaji following this performance to discuss their most recent collaboration, the monumental look into Laraaji’s earliest recordings, Segue To Infinity, his Orangeness' 40+ year legacy, and just maybe, the nature of reality itself.
