  • Rhythms and sounds at the Alppipuisto-park and Korjaamo Culture Factory on Saturday, August 7th 2010 Rytmikaravaani-festival brings together some of the world-famous electronic music acts in a free open air concert in Alppipuisto. As its main act, the two-year-old festival will serve you the modern reggae and dub masters Mark Ernestus and Paul St. Hilaire, aka Tikiman, who are famous from the legendary Rhythm & Sound project. Be sure not to miss out on Soulphiction, an artist who incorporates jazz and hip hop elements to his house music, or Stewart Walker, the American techno pioneer. Both of these guys are performing in Finland for the very first time. The concert will also feature the Danish dub techno virtuoso Mikkel Metal, the Finnish electronica trio Kitkaliitto and the psy trance DJ Inkeri Tähti. In addition to the live music, this charming free event offers you a record flea market, dance performances, workshops and delicious vegetarian food. There will also be designers selling their creations, and organizations introducing themselves. Evening club at the Korjaamo Culture Factory 21-04 After the fun day at the park, the event continues at the Korjaamo Culture Factory, where Jackmate, Mikkel Metal and Stewart Walker put their party gear on and reveal their wilder side along with some Finnish DJs. On top of these beats and sounds that will surely make you wanna pick your feet up, you can also enjoy video and light art, as well as performances. Techno culture with punk attitude The organizer of the event is HYTKY, a non-profit voluntary collective, pursuing the advancement of techno culture. The organization, founded in 1996, focuses on underground events and puts Do It Yourself -spirit and communal participation into practice in its activities. Instead of showing a profit, the objective is to offer sensations and contribute to the original techno culture. Rytmikaravaani is a part of the series of diverse events organized by various organizations in Alppipuisto during the summer. The main financier is City of Helsinki Cultural Office.
