Finally, the moment has arrived. Grijs (Grey) will make its debut in Amsterdam at Sunday night the 26th of September 2010. The location is one of the most intimate, dark clubs of Amsterdam, Club NL.
Especially for this night we give Ra.H. the opportunity to share his sounds with us. His preference for the psychedelic jazz of Sun Ra, the warm techno of the early days of Detroit and the soul of long forgotten records, makes his sound very sophisticated, in a way we hardly hear anymore.
We also know Rabih (his real name and born in Lebanon) as his alter ego Morphosis and from his band The Upperground Orchestra.
In 2005 Rabih started his label Morphine Records, where he has released most of his records, a label that is more about quality instead of quantity: Anthony Shake Shakir, Hieroglyphic Being and Ksoul are a few artists that found a spot at this home. All people out there with great taste can come out and enjoy a 2 hour live/dj set which presumably will be dark, intricate, intelligent and sexy all at the same time.
Organizers and resident dj’s Mark van de Maat and Akemiö Grey will introduce this Grijs night with a set full of quality music and contrasts. They will explore decades of dance music and with love they’ll combine these with the electronic rarities of the present.
Jorn Liefdeshuis from Bar Weinig and Squz Agency will end the night b2b with Lena Willikens from Köln, Germany, with a set in which borders will fade.
On Sunday night our love for vinyl will shine, and this night will characterize itself as a twilight zone where everything is possible. We want surprises and diversity on the dance floor. We’ll go from afro to Chicago, from dubtechno to future garage, from electro to jazz and back to italo/disco.
The night starts at 22:00 and lasts ‘till 3:00, so come early. For only 5,- you’ll have a beautiful night.
