Warm 11th Birthday

  • On Saturday October 9th Warm take over Corsica Studios to celebrate their 11th birthday. For this very special event we have brought together some of the best international talent from around the world in addition to key artists from the Warm agency. In Room One we welcome two of the key figures of German electronic music, the most talked about Detroit producer of his generation, and one of the most talked about British talents of recent times: Sebo K, Lawrence, Kyle Hall and The Revenge. In the past decade Sebo K has been behind a series of releases that are the definition of quality over quantity. At the centre of his output is his relationship with Mobilee, whose reputation as one of the most essential German imprints of recent years is largely down to Sebo’s expertly crafted productions. Since 2002 he has held a residency at Berlin’s famed Watergate club. Lawrence is one of the co-founders of Hamburg’s Dial and Smallvilles imprints. Dial has become a by-word for emotive, Detroit-inspired house and techno and is home to the likes of Pantha Du Prince and Efdemin. Lawrence is one of the main players on Hamburg’s DJ scene and has released on some of the world’s most talked about labels, including Kompakt, Mule Electronic and Ghostly International. Hailed by Theo Parrish, Omar-S and almost every other Detroit luminary out there, Kyle Hall is widely considered to be the hottest talent to come out of the Motor City in many years. Schooled by the likes of Rick Wilhite and Mike Huckaby, Kyle began DJing and recording at an extremely young age, releasing his first record on Omar-S’s FXHE label when he was only 16. Since then he has been behind a string of releases and remixes on Wild Oats (his own label), Moods & Grooves, Hyperdub, and Warp. He is a precocious and unique talent, and we are incredibly excited to have him on this bill. Graeme Clark AKA The Revenge is one of the most prolific talents to emerge from the UK in many years. His dissecting and re-imagining of soul, funk, and disco has earned his releases a place in every discerning DJ’s record bag and his ability to seamlessly merge together disco and house has taken him to clubs all around the globe. In Room Two we welcome three cornerstones of the Warm Agency: Horse Meat Disco, Mark E and Cottam. The Horse Meat Disco boys need little introduction. Their Sunday party in Vauxhall has become the stuff of legend and has skyrocketed disco back onto the national consciousness. The second instalment of their widely acclaimed mix series has just been released. Mark E’s pitched-down, dubbed-out edits have earned him the mantle of the ‘slo-mo king’ in recent years, and indeed it was his edits of the likes of Janet Jackson and Womack & Womack which placed him firmly on the map, earning plaudits from such luminaries as Gilles Peterson. Yet Mark is far more talented than that moniker gives him credit for, and with a knowledge of house that runs just as deep as his love of disco he seemed the perfect choice to accompany the HMD boys for this special occasion. Cottam is one of the rising stars of the past 12 months. His anonymous coloured releases were the talk of the town in 2009, a year which ended with all three being charted in Phonica’s end of year chart. 2010 is set to be another massive year with more original material in the pipeline as well as remixes for the likes of Azari & III. * * * Tickets: £8 // £10 // £12.50 from Resident Advisor and Corsica Studios. £15 on the door.
