This August Shrug & Plus one are bringing something very special to the civic...many of you know i have a passion for the deeper side of house....and this act is one of my all time favourites. I was fortunate to catch one of Pezzner’s live sets last year while on holiday overseas and whilst i was already a big fan of his productions (His 3 part Almost Here ep got played to death by me in 2009) I’d never actually heard a live set of his.
To say I was impressed was an understatement this guy is the deepness, rolling, melodic basslines just overflowing with emotional pops, crackles and snares....On the Civic’s amazing sound system...well I don’t need any further hyperbole for that do I?
If you even have a passing fondness for deep house and want to see what tech house sounds like without the click/clack this is one not to miss.
Alongside Pezzner we have two of Sydney’s best DJ’s from the deeper side of house, Robbie Lowe & Murat Kilic, some guy with a beard, and up & comers Mesan.
Pezzner Bio
It’s fairly safe to say the Seattle based producer Dave Pezzner has injected a breath of fresh air into dance music since he released his debut EP on Freerange in 2008. US label OM quickly showed an interest in his original material, as did a whole load of other labels wanting the Pezzner touch on remixes including Shaboom, Ghostly International, Neurotrax and Room With A View. Now it seems to be the right time for him to release his debut album on Freerange.
‘The Tracks Are Alive’ is announced as the kind of leftfield, organic sounding house which is at once club orientated but with enough interest and depth to keep the home listener absorbed. Pezzner has a very unique sound and isn’t afraid to push things in a fairly abstract direction sonically, which would mean on the album you can expect everything from intricate house up to blissed out electronica.
Pezzner’s ‘The Tracks Are Alive’ will be released on June 14th, 2010.
