On Friday 13th August Warm kick-start their special residency at Kleine Reise, Berlin, with sets from Mark E, Trickski and the Warm Residents.
Mark E’s pitched-down, dubbed-out edits have earned him the mantle of the ‘slo-mo king’ in recent years, with his edits of the likes of Janet Jackson and Womack & Womack placing him firmly on the map, earning plaudits from such luminaries as Gilles Peterson. He has just released two retrospective CDs which collect the best of his work from the past five years, and he has recently started his own label – MERC. Mark has a knowledge of house that runs just as deep as his love of disco and he seemed the perfect choice to kick start this special Warm residency in Berlin.
Hailing from the deepest, darkest Black Forest area of Germany, Trickski are DJs and producers Yannick Labbé and Daniel Becker, as well as MC FNA, who joins them for special events. Taking their initial musical leanings from the jazz and disco brainbox that is Rainer Trüby, they released their first 12’’ on Compost, they soon moved to a rougher house and techno sound which quickly found a home on Jazzanova’s revered Sonar Kollektiv label. Their own sub-label – Members Of The Trick – soon followed, and they have recently released on Jimpster’s label-of-the-moment Delusions Of Grandeur.
Joining Mark E and Trickski will be Warm’s very own Ali Tillett.. Ali has been behind the hugely successful Warm events agency for the past ten years looking after artists such as Âme, Dixon, Henrik Schwarz, Horse Meat Disco, Tim Sweeney and The Revenge. Ali worked at the highly regarded label Nuphonic Records before its demise and has played at the now legendary London Xpress and Bridge & Tunnel parties warming up for artists such as Carl Craig, DJ Harvey, Metro Area and many more.
