Mary Gehnyei, born in Rome of Liberian descent, began her musical adventure as a vocalist in some of the best clubs in Italy, alongside several DJs, while amateurishly collecting vinyls with which she discovers he has a very strong bond with. If at first it was just a desire to buy them, it then became an ongoing quest to play them and share them with others. Thus was born the artist we know as Mary Gehnyei, a female DJ with an interesting and eclectic musical background, where various influences converge, from Hip Hop to Detroit Techno. Every night and every experience she has had has marked her musical taste and her artistic growth, from exciting nights in Rome, including an important experience at the Goa Club, to putting herself on the line doing warm ups to iconic DJs like Andrew Weatherall, and K-Hand, the latter being a great source of inspiration for her.Despite her talent and passion,Mary has faced unique challenges along the way. However, she has been able to overcome these obstacles with grit and determination and has built her career on significant moments and experiences that have shaped her all round and made her an authentic voice in the music scene. Her music and presence break stereotypes and show that diversity is an asset to be celebrated. Her mission is to combine energy and electronic sounds with her cultural roots through her great passion for music.
