Label nights are the parties at Nowadays where we dive deep into the sounds and artists that make our favorite labels what they are.
Underground Resistance should need little introduction, especially around these parts, but lest we forget: The long-running Detroit-based collective, platform and record label pioneered a techno sound in the 90s that was deeply political and undoubtedly Afro-futurist. This legacy continues today thanks to many active members, including the DJ, producer and historian John Collins. Much like Collins, Huey Mnemonic's work with UR and Submerge (the archive and record store for all things Detroit techno) runs deep. He represents the next generation of sonic torch bearers for the UR sound. Tapped by UR themselves, Brooklyn's Kilopatrah Jones rounds out the bill. Their sets deliver on the promise of communal joy in house music.
