Los Angeles-based electronic music composer and DJ, John Tejada, will join legendary UK electronic duo Plaid for the California leg of their “Feorm Falorx” US tour. Tejada will perform the live version of “Resound,” his 15th solo album. Experience a dynamic presentation of the album as Tejada reimagines the material in new ways, combining vintage drum machines, effects, and modern DSP techniques. Tejada will perform “Resound” live alongside Mason Bee (of Plaid) who will accompany on guitar, improvising to add extra depth.
Plaid will be making a stop at Lodge Room on Friday, January 19, as part of their world tour. On the cusp of their 30th year with Warp Records, now is the time to reflect on the massively important presence of Plaid, aka Ed Handley and Andy Turner. An institution since the late ‘80s, they are monumental cornerstones for any self-respecting electronic music fan. Playful and wondrous, their 11th album “Feorm Falorx” is gentler than the dark angularity of its predecessor, “Polymer,” but no less deep, and maintains the melodicism for which Plaid are loved for.
John Tejada is a Vienna-born, Los Angeles-based electronic music composer, DJ, and professor at CalArts. His professional output of music began in 1994 and has never let up, including five albums for the revered label Kompakt, plus releases on Poker Flat, Cocoon, Plug Research, Seventh City, Playhouse, Defected, and his own label since 1996, Palette Recordings. Tejada has also been responsible for remixing more than 100 songs for acts including Orbital, The Postal Service, Télépopmusik, The Field, Bomb the Bass, Way Out West, Kevin Saunderson, Darren Emerson, Gui Boratto, Simian Mobile Disco, and many others.
This is an all ages show. Doors open at 8pm and the show starts at 9pm. Tickets are $22 and are available on Lodge Room’s website.
