Legendary downbeat duo play an exclusive show at VEGA
Austria's Kruder & Dorfmeister, who have set the standard with their chilled blend of electronica, dub and chill-out, will be performing an exclusive DJ set at Store VEGA on February 17, 2024.
Although Kruder & Dorfmeister embody the downbeat genre for many, genre labels have never been adequate for the legendary producer duo. Their atmospheric and laid-back tracks are made to flow out of the speakers for a chilled sunset set on a South Sea island, but at the same time they contain a myriad of references ranging from Ethiopian jazz, dub and 60s psychedelia to trip-hop, hip-hop and Balearic.
In addition to being adventurous musicians and producers, Peter Kruder and Richard Dorfmeister are perhaps best known as equilibristic remix artists of Depeche Mode, Roni Size and David Holmes, among others, and music nerds with exquisite taste, as evidenced by their two excellent mix albums Conversions: A K&D Selection (1996) and The K&D Sessions (1998) and their contribution to the 1996 compilation series DJ-Kicks. All three were huge commercial successes with album sales in the millions.
The fact that Kruder & Dorfmeister go their own way is underlined by the fact that during their 30-year career they have released a handful of strong EPs of their own songs, but never a proper studio album. On the other hand, for four decades they have run their own record label G-Stone Recordings, releasing their own and Austrian colleagues' releases - including their double album 1995 from 2020, which collects a formidable career of unreleased tracks and other rarities.
As if that wasn't enough, Kruder & Dorfmeister are also known for their unrivaled DJ skills, which they have performed with throughout their career all over the world. Behind the decks, they spin experimental and adventurous tracks, but also leave plenty of room for drum'n'bass, house and other danceable electronic subgenres. Danish fans can look forward to experiencing this captivating side of the duo's talent next year when Kruder & Dorfmeister perform an exclusive DJ set in Store VEGA's beautiful and atmospheric hall.
