Hailing from Northern Shires, Shunt Voltage manufacture electronic beats where once industrial giants manufactured goods for the World.
They make their own style of Cosmic Acid House Disco, which is a combination of grooves, effects and samples jammed together against a backdrop of acid infused beats.
Shunt Voltage mix their tracks live on the fly resulting in something unique every time they play.
The trio play a continuous mix, people seem to like the vibe and dance.
They have been remixed by Sons of Slough which was played out by the fondly remembered Andrew Weatherall and recently rinsed by Collen Cosmo Murphy at her residence with David Holmes.
John Paynter is the head honcho at Paisley Dark Records and under his A Space Age Freak Out moniker, along with his partner in crime Ben Lewis, has just remixed a track on the new Shunt Voltage 12". His DJ career has taken him far and wide with headline sets at the Beatherder Festival, The Carlton Club, Heavenly Social London, The Golden Lion and has warmed up for Andrew Weatherall's ALFOS to name but a few. John also promotes his regular Paisley Dark nights at Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds as well as his LSD&2Es nights at The Imaginarium.
Kibosh are a collective of DJs, producers and creatives that have been running free parties in the Manchester suburbs since 2019. Previously hosted by Dulcimer in Chorlton they made the move over to the Old Abbey Tap House on Manchester Science Park in 2023 and are now running parties on the first Friday of every other month. Representing the collective at Disorder we have Alex Gaskill, Dan Williamson and Rob Hall who have all been DJing in various guises since the late 90s and playing tunes everywhere from the basement clubs of Manchester and Leeds to the forest parties in the mountains of Japan. Whilst all having their individual styles their sound is very much centred around chuggy psychedelia and stripped back acid scorched techno. As well as their own Manchester night you might be familiar with Kibosh from their guest appearances at other Manchester shindigs such as Club Solo and Psychedelic Discotheque.
Growing up in the 80s, Electric Gigi had been heavily influenced by the burgeoning synthetic sounds of the New Romantics as well as early revolutionary hip hop. And early European masters Kraftwerk.
She landed in Manchester in late 91 and became part of the Madchester dance scene, experiencing her first real night clubs where music was the ultimate focus. This changed and formed her musical tastes forever with rave culture.
A seminal moment was hearing 808 State's Cubic and Pacific State!
Then came the underground clubs of Liverpool, with voodoo at le bateau becoming like a second home. Jeff Mills at 051 remains the best night EVA!!!
Fast forward to Manchester 2018, Gigi took up the opportunity to present her own radio show on Manchester’s longest running community radio station ALLFM and has since gain a reputation of bringing the latest in electronic music to her listeners, as well as interviewing renowned music producers, including Graham Massey of 808 State and Paisley Dark’s John Paynter, as well as supporting up and coming artists.
During lockdown, Gigi bought her first controller and started to produce her own mixes to create content for her show and caught the DJing bug.
Since then, she has become a firm fixture on the South Manchester dance scene and has become a regular on the line ups for Deranged Nights DJ collective, and co-founded Galactica, and has been part of line ups for Mixing Mates, Club Solo and Psychedelic DiscoTech.
Her style is forward thinking and showcases the best new tracks from unknown as well as established music producers, covering genres from house to techno and remixes of classic tracks. She will definitely get the dancefloor jumping with a mix of hard funky electro sounds.
