  • Haruka makes his much anticipated debut at BASEMENT. The Japanese DJ is one of the most committed practitioners of hypnotic, mesmerizing techno. Working alongside DJ Nobu on the long-running Future Terror parties, Haruka spins webs of immersive and rippling rhythms. These sets draw you in with masterful control and finely-tuned details before they dive in for the kill. After last year’s appearance was postponed due to visa issues, we’re very glad to finally welcome Haruka to BASEMENT. Clarisa Kimskii matches the slow burn allure with a dose of groovy, slinky and impactful techno. A recent transplant to NY, Kimskii has quickly made the city her own, bringing a revitalizing passion and decades-deep first hand knowledge of the genre and an undeniable passion. Sploofi’s ongoing b2bs with Nicolò Bernardi have been turning heads for a minute now. Playing together as A Delicate Balance, they bring a fluid and well-versed chemistry that cannot be faked. Their enveloping, shadowy approach is a perfect complement to the night. The Spectrum returns to STUDIO, inviting an appropriately broad range of voices to the room. The now-shuttered, still legendary venue was an inimitable hub for queer expression and chaotic, avant garde/club collisions. This night shows how their curatorial acumen remains vital. Tiki Disco’s Eli Escobar has been having quite a run at STUDIO. Few deliver quite like he does; his years in the NYC house scene have given him an effortless command, and his sets unspool with the sort of intuitive flair that’s so well-executed it feels miraculous. Nomi Ruiz makes her debut. An iconic presence in NY music since the turn of the millennium, Ruiz first came to prominence as a singer in the city’s rapidly-transforming, much lauded early ‘00s dance scene. A collaboration with Hercules and Love Affair resulted in some of DFA Records’ most outstanding tracks, and a tenure as the lead vocalist in Jessica 6 extended this vision of forward-thinking, disco-informed dance pop. Ruiz’s work has never stopped; as singer, writer, actor and installation artist, Ruiz has remained unerring in her bold, essential creativity. Josh Steers mixes it up with a more catalyzing, in-your-face flavor. Even in his more house-leaning moments, the energy remains dialed at a peak level. ■ No photos or videos ■ No phone use on the dancefloor ■ The dance floor is for dancing, not conversation ■ No glowing/flashing clothes or items ■ Respect other people's space, no shuffling ■ Consent is mandatory ■ Zero tolerance for racism, homophobia, transphobia, sexism, ableism or any form of discrimination ■ Take care of each other, alert our staff if somebody isn't feeling well ■ Violating the house rules will result in removal ■ Ticket purchase does not guarantee entrance
