Eastern Europe has been making waves in the dance community at increasingly large rates in the last 5 years. What was once unknown territories to the majority of the clubbing world, has recently become a hotbed of techno house and everything in-between. It's safe to say that in 2010 Eastern Europe has finally arrived on the scene and in a big way! And what better place to celebrate than at the 15th annual Amsterdam Dance Event — Europe's premier international music conference and festival. The suggestively titled I.AM [now] @ The Eastern Block, as part of the larger production of Inter Lab Sessions, aims to provide the European electronic music enthusiast with a unique clubbing experience like no other. And with a line up that's arguably one of the best and most unique at ADE this party looks like the place to be on Friday, October 22nd.
To organize this event the Russian born, US raised dj Rust called upon his friends from around Eastern Europe and beyond, so the line up is created to impress. The main headliners and notorious party starters are Romania's finest sons from the acclaimed, almost mystical label of [a:rpia:r]. This Romanian phenomenon has been responsible for some of the most hypnotic and head turning music in the last decade. Its residents are as elusive as ever and no words can describe the intensity of their sets. It's best to say that [a:rpia:r] is something to be experienced live for maximum effect! I.AM [now]@The Eastern Block will feature [a:ripa:r]'s founding father and main stalwart Rhadoo alongside with a representative of the second generation of Romanian talent – El-Cezere.
The other European headliners can't come from a hotter label —Cadenza! This year, with an impressive and record breaking residency in Ibiza and a string of top charting releases, the Swiss-by-Chile label has become the most talked about phenomenon of the season. So it's only fitting that Mirko Loko's set, as one of the more musically adventurous members of Cadenza, along side a live performance from Chile's Felipe Venegas will be surely one of the many highlights of I.AM NOW @ The Eastern Block!
The Russian block consists of Rust himself — one of Russia's fastest rising young stars of house and techno music, recently signed to the buzzing LA label Culprit, where he will be among such respected artists as Hot Natured, Matt Tolfrey, Adultnapper, Lee Foss and others. Rust is joined by his best friends and house heavyweights Grad (Bumpy Traxx) and Arram Mantana (Robotronic). Also in the Russian corner are well known in Europe and beyond tech house kings B-Voice (Denkbar) and Anrilov (Fragment). Rounding out the cast are owners and residents of Moscow's unmatched techno mecca Arma, 17 — Abelle+Bkpr. And just when the line up couldn't get better, LA party monster and purveyor of weird and wonderful sounds, Ukrainian born Andrei Osyka, from Droog and the intensely charismatic Culprit label has joined this crew on their maiden voyage!
