Vito Ricci & Lise Vachon:
Vito Ricci, raised in Brooklyn, New York, is a musician and prolific composer of wide ranging genres and electronic ambient music with an astonishing vitality, honesty and poignancy who certainly navigated via the cracks. He has scored over fifty productions including classical concert music such as string quartets, song cycles, piano and small ensemble pieces performed at Roulette, Greenwich Music House, NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts, Moma PS1 and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. He also composed music for theatre and dance, in Europe and the United States. He is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Queen’s Council of the Arts.
The Dutch label Music from Memory borrowed its name from Ricci’s 1985 vinyl and reissued recordings and tapes in 2015 as “I Was Crossing a Bridge ”. In 2016, a Symphony for Amiga was commissioned and composed with the old intelligent instrument. A book / cassette “My Little Life” was published in 2017 by Séance Centre out of Toronto.
Lise Vachon, an inspiring and mesmerizing vocalist concerned with spontaneity, has maintained a vocal collaboration with Ricci. She captures the spirit of creative singing and interprets feelings more than stories. Commitment to exploration and influences has taken her to a spontaneous vocabulary of her own. Ricci produced her CD “Vocalise” with stellar musicians, Rashied Ali, Peter Zummo, Blue Gene Tyranny, Byard Lancaster.
Tako:
Tako Reyenga is a well-respected sound hunter in Europe, an unstoppable finder and collector.
He never had musical aspirations, but his sonic acumen awoke in the early 90s, when he was still a teenager, and began delving into the forgotten boxes of every record store he came across. Now, he also makes his findings heard from his two labels: Into the Light Records and Music From Memory.
His sets build on rhythms that are familiar, yet exuberant and timeless. In spite of his technical neatness, Tako confronts the audience with humility and a fun perspective that can encompass Nigerian boogie as well as disco or deep ambient. it is full of surprises. With such musical background, you never know how the set will end.
Kennedy:
Pushing wax at Red Light Records, being part of the Music From Memory family and running his own Dream Machine music imprint have all equipped Kennedy with plenty knowledge and make him the trusted face he is today.
Specialised in but not limited to house and disco, Kennedy stays true to the sound of the past while remaining open to the future and always timeless. He’s been submerged in records and dancing for over two decades now having frst learnt from the classic US school which inspired him to tell musical stories that call on both the body and soul. Preferring extended over transient, his thoughtfully selected DJ sets are as balanced as they are dynamic, and come with little hassle and lots of love. You can dance, if you want to.
Vio DJ:
Berlin-based DJ Curtis Barber has been collecting records and presenting radio shows as Vio DJ for almost 15 years. His monthly show on the German satellite outpost of LA-based radio station dublab meanders through a myriad of genres, whilst contributions to mix series such as Bar Part Time, c-minus, Left Alone and Krossfingers, as well as regular radio transmissions on NTS, showcase his propensity for unearthing interesting records and tying them together with a unique narrative touch.
