10 years on and we’re feeling ambitious heading into 2024 so we’re going to breeze right into February with another can’t miss night at the Flat Iron, this time with undeniable brilliance of John FM.
The Detroit-based producer, songwriter, singer, and DJ produces nearly all of his own music, which shifts from track to track in both content—from sexy to serious, personal to political—and genre, blending elements of Detroit house and techno, as well as R&B, hip-hop, electro and synth pop, and more. On most of his tracks, his own voice is his most recognizable instrument.
His DJ sets follow this same blueprint, which is to say no blueprint at all. As in his productions, vocals play a prominent role across genres. Above all, these sets are great fun and make you want to move.
