There’s a spellbound moment when the gates of winter in Berlin lock. In a magical ritual, the realms of spring come to life, nature blossoms, and the waters of the once-frozen lakes warm up, allowing the air to swell and the multifaceted colours of the sky to unfold.
From a lethargic season, the hibernated community wakes up and reunites, needing to release energies dozed off in the cold. It’s the moment they have been eagerly waiting for. The solstice of the Sun climbs to its maximum declination. The devotees of Climate Of Fear reach their zenith when this legendary party is hosted at the doorstep of Spandau, a set-in-stone appointment on the agenda of the dancers.
Following the route is recommended, getting lost is a must: leave the city for 24 hours of music while still within Berlin's borders, through the charm of a location perched on a tiny island surrounded by a lake, a postcard-perfect landscape to be mailed to tell the tales of an epic party.
From and to Berlin-Spandau station, a free shuttle bus runs every 20 minutes to smooth the way to the destination.
Crossing the gates of Backsteinboot, friendly faces welcome what becomes a family for a day, intent on filling the airy open-space dancefloor decorated with iconic tropical flora; enjoying some yummy food served from the first hours of the day, or gathering on the stairs to catch their breath after the full immersion in sound. Stop for a moment and observe those sitting souls, try to look at them from the highest viewpoint: they’ll seem to you like a vortex, a spiral of electric energy flowing from heart to heart, from mind to dance.
Everyone is welcome, no one is left behind. The venue is wheelchair-accessible for guests with mobile disabilities, just contact the staff for support.
